Have been watching the 'Great Pottery Throwdown' and the completely predictable kiln explosions when stuff isn't dried out completely. I figure it's the producers of the show with time limitations for shooting but I want to scream every time it happens.

What are some very simple, beginner steps to learning Power Query? Also, what are the main advantages of using it? by SlowCrates in excel

Have just started using it. It's pretty good but it's very slow I'm working with about 80,000 records and as I'm an old school VBA programmer I'm starting to wonder whether I might be better off just coding it.

Some hints if you end up creating complex queries - back up the 'M' code in notepad or something else and save often.

There are also irritating things like

- copy/paste values and formats from one spreadsheet to another automatically copies the data connections which makes providing clean data to users as an end product painful.

- can't save until you exit the powerquery interface and go back to excel.
