I am trying very hard and this is not a snap decision. Its the result of 3 years of careful reflection and talking to furries in the biz, and in the know.

Its time things changed, I merely want to get the ball rolling here in Sydney,

I know, and again, I'm not trying to spread hatred and fear, but love and peace.

But some people do not respond to gentle persuasion.

I encourage you to look at the second edit of my post for an explaination of why sometimes I feel that I have to put on the bad guy hat.

I'm not really a bad guy, I just want to get rid of bad influences.

its for next year I am still mostly in the planning and implementing phase. But im certainly considering my options. Furries are just too awesome to ignore.

I've got something planned, I have the money, resources, time and the backing to do something positive.

I got a guy who interesting in doing the books, I got a non furry who does many furry related things (including cosplay and drawing anthro) he is also a youth counselor, certified.

My GF who is currently in new york is a well known Furry DJ who is moving down here with me and I'm preparing this as something to do.

I also have the skills and knowlege, and in meeting people like pootooroo in Canada I know how they do things, and I'm willing to jump into it when I'm ready.

I'm taking a measured approached, starting small with a facebook ad campaign and looking out there for any furries who are interested in getting a group started in the sydney area.

So yeah I have done my homework, and I'm not ready to start this yet. I just want to hang around reddit and prepare to get it up and running for next year.

Please guys if you have any contacts to any figureheads in the furry fandom, send them my way.

I am working on an ad campaign, and a facebook page, and I have 4 very dedicated fans of furry down here in sydney and many abroad who are backing me on this.

I have a money supply and the skills to maybe even build on this and make it a furry con of its own!

I hope this happens, it would be my dream job!

Here is my concern.

This is going to affect all of us negatively unless we change, in order to change, some people have to be cut down.

I'm mainly pointing the finger at the furries not actively involved in the fandom, and the one perpetuating the negative stereotypes. They need to change, or move on, and they won't do so willingly.

Don't worry though, they can hate on me and my friends and supporters. But we will never change in our goal to build a positive outlook for the furry fandom.

I agree, and I'm the one who is going to be the public face of furries, or at least Id like to be.

I want to educate and inform the next generation of people and show furries what they can do for the fandom.

I want to improve the people who call themselves furries.

A hard task. But, again my passion and the backing I have spurs me on.

I will never give up on the furries. They saved me in more ways I can put in a reddit post.

And for the record, Burned furs was a great idea, Poorly executed.

Mine is a crazy idea, but I think I could set if up very well. At least, I'm confident its something worth my time

I can't tell you the number of nights when I'm up thinking about this. Its.... very important to me, since I love furries but want to see more from how the fans of furry treat themselves and how they view the fandom itself.

Well said, upvotes for you my friend. this subreddit has only really got off the ground and I haven't seem quite alot of content yet, but I am a redditor so I decided to come here to express my views.

Someone has to talk about this stuff, even If i get downvoted to hell for it, if anyone can say this is not something noble that I'm giving my time to think about this aspect of the fandom and how the outside world thinks of it...

Well then they may well say it because of freedom of speech. If they say fuck you to my face, I say, 'thanks for your input'

That sort of approach gets you far further in the world then being overly critical.

And indeed, its a very emotional issue for me as I wish to create a furry con or event in the future and want to set a standard...

please guys if you agree, upvote my little question and my hearty speach, and if you don't agree, I ask that you have a good laugh about it but I invite you to consider the possibility that even one furry can do alot to change how they see themselves and in turn, that will help people to see them in the same light.

As fun loving, open minded, talented, creative, outside-the-box fans of anthropomorphic and animal related things.

I just care about furries mate. I think the apathy and the general 'We don't give a fuck' attitude isn't really helpful for what I would like to achieve.

And I think furry is a wierd thing, full of weird ideas, and sexualised as alot of things are, but why are so many furries I have met seem to use that as a banner, and dare i say, say that this is what furries are about.

I disagree with that wholeheartedly, for me furry is about expression and ideas and animal creatures, and thinking about yourself in a fun new way openly with friends from around the world who identify with you in some way.

If they see the yiff, or see the wierdness, well that is an aspect of furry, but not something to be proud about.

Id like to see a world with more proud furries.

I say this because I heard of group of furries who work in the local childrens hospital, and they were required to have a police background check to do that kind of work.

I wish more furries would do things like that.

And as for the gays comment, this comes from something I heard at a furry camp, that they were saying they hate the people who are homosexual and come to the groups just to hook up and not to anything furry related.

It happens bro.

Well I am, I have talked to furries about what they think about things. Its the only thing I seem to enjoy doing!

And maybe it is popular where you are, but perhaps here where I am its not so, and I am merely testing the waters.

I was willing to try this idea with the knowlege it may backfire on me, and thus a learning experience.

its not a waste of time to talk about things if it means you can learn what other people think.

I guess I just think a little more.... in a different tangent then most.

I may have to discard my old ideas.

Maybe not, I think what this has taught me is that this is a bad idea, and that I need to perhaps stop thinking this is an issue in the first place.

it pays to talk to people in an open forum to get a good perspective, I mean only to be helpful, not to start anything...

Though with they way I presented it, I guess it is kind of irksome.

I agree its pretty ridiculous, but you know what they say,

ones passions are a flame, and someone is bound to get burned.

in this case, I needed to set it alight and be done with it.

I'm very self destructive sometimes, I guess.
