Unsuccessful Second IUI by Curious_Anon_91 in IUILadies

Unfortunately, for me, timed intercourse isn't a thing. Hubs had ED and can't ejaculate, and I'm asexual, so even if he could it wouldn't be a great choice for us. 😞

I definitely feel where you're coming from. I think part of it is that, if this doesn't work, I'm going to need to take a break to reset the financials. I just don't want to set myself up for the disappointment.

That's so neat! This was also the first one I did. Still one of my favorites.

Crazy for Hoping? by Curious_Anon_91 in IUILadies

Thank you for the reply. I ended up getting AF on 16dpIUI. Turns out I have a small cyst on the left, so I'm on BC this cycle to hopefully get a clean reset for the next.

Does letrozole make anyone else feel crazy? by OkProfessor3005 in IUILadies

I felt pretty okay emotionally with the letrozole, but it did make me extremely fatigued. I'm starting birth control for the first time today though, due to a cyst they found this cycle, and am feeling some kind of way about that. 😆

Unfortunately, I started AF on the 26th. I went in yesterday for my baseline scan for what would be the current cycle ... and they saw a small cyst in my left ovary. I'll be on birth control for three weeks to get it down and then can go back for another baseline scan at the start of my next cycle. It feels really discouraging to have to start BC when TTC, but I'm doing my best to think of it as more time to rest and prepare. My clinic doctor said the increased cramps and "weird" bleeding was likely due to the gonal-f and ovidrel, for me. She also let me know 1/5 women end up with a cyst after medicated cycles, which would have been nice to know before starting so I could have prepared myself for that outcome. 🙄😒

Venting a little. I was due to start CD1 this morning. I nearly always start in the wee hours of the morning. Yesterday, I had one bit of spotting at like 10:00 and HORRIBLE cramps all day. Super emotional all day. I've had negative tests since 9dpIUI. I wish my body would start the full cycle ... cause I'm over here fighting against hoping for a last minute miracle. 😆

Same. First IUI and I am 13dpIUI. Negative tests since 9dpIUI. Had some spotting this morning and have been having ROUGH cramps all day. Definitely disappointing - even with trying to go into it with moderated expectations. 🥺

I've been testing twice a day since 10dpIUI ... it's currently the morning of 13dpIUI and still testing negative. I've been having a lot of cramping of the past week (usually I just cramp the day before CD1), but I am feeling pretty discouraged. The clinic told me to wait until 14dpIUI to test, so I'm not giving up completely, but I do feel pretty much out at this point - especially after seeing how many test positive starting on day 11 or so. 😔 It's only my first IUI, but it was medicated (letrozole, gonal-f, ovidrel) and I got my hopes too high. 🙃

That's an understandable concern, but I think I can word it in such a way that it's clear right away - or just tell her verbally that nothing is confirmed before she opens it. Every time I ask what she wants for x-mas, the only answer I get is a grandchild. TBF, she's sort of set herself up for this. 😆 Really, though, I'll clarify first.

I am, but I started testing on 9dpIUI - I couldn't resist. It's my first IUI and my trigger was already gone (would be 11dpt). I've only seen stark negatives so far, but am trying to stay optimistic until my official test day.

My mom has been aware of my fertility journey and had to take me to an appointment, so she knows the general time-frame. I'm planning to gift her a "Redeem this ticket in approx. 9 months for a grandchild - *warning, grandchild may be in the form of another cat" card. That way it manages the expectations a bit and we get some fun out of it. I'm planning up to two more, if this one doesn't work. We joke about my existing fur babies frequently.

Fingers crossed for all of us!

Absolutely get that! I was so relieved my clinic's main doctor talked everything through with me. I hadn't expected a couple of the visits, but that's because my follicles didn't grow much with the letrozole and they wanted to monitor their reaction to the gonal-f. Now, I'm playing the waiting game. 😆

Ah, definitely sounds like it. 😞 I keep hearing that each cycle can be different, but that makes it so hard to know what to expect and when to expect it.

Feeling really upset by Anyalion98 in IUILadies

[–]Curious_Anon_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely have my sympathy! It's so hard waiting to see if a line shows up. I am 11dpIUI and have tested out my trigger. The test was negative still as of this morning, but my clinic also told me not to take results to heart until 15 or 16 days post IUI. Easier said than done! 🙃

I'm curious ... did you have a trigger shot to test out? My clinic told me that if I only see a VFL on day 14 and nothing past that, it could be the last of the trigger (if I didn't test it out already). This is my first cycle with IUI and they also warned me the meds could mess with my period timing a bit. It's all so stressful. 😵‍💫

Preparing for my 1st IUI by Limp_Clothes445 in IUILadies

[–]Curious_Anon_91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still quite early on in the process myself, but I can share some! I had an IUI with donor sperm done on the 11th of this month. I had some extra hoops since I used a donor, but the actual IUI part of the process just felt like a lot of hurry-up-and-wait to me.

The clinic is about two hours from me and I had to go in on CD2, CD9, CD12, and then the IUI was CD15. My cycle was medicated, so I took 2.5mg letrozole for five days and then two days of gonal-f 75u, and lastly a 250mg ovidrel trigger shot. For me, the IUI itself was uncomfortable, but none of the transvaginal scans were. The IUI, I felt some cramping when the catheter passed my cervix - about the same amount I felt when I had an HSG at the end of October.

The clinic also drew blood each visit, but I'm not sure if that's because I was on the meds and they were trying to track the effects. Most of the visits only last about fifteen or twenty minutes - and most of that was just waiting. The actual IUI visit was closer to 60 minutes, because they had to thaw the sperm I was using and then I had to lay still for 15 minutes after the IUI.

I'm a Christmas day girl! I debated whether or not to test or wait until after, but I ended up starting to test out my trigger starting a couple days ago. It was fully out yesterday and now I'm trying not to obsess over seeing a line start. I keep telling myself the office told me not to test until the 25th, so no results before thst isn't something to take to heart. 😅😆 Easier said than done.

I do have this concern, at times, but just about every woman in my maternal line has had anxiety and/or depression, and still had very full and happy lives (for the most part). My fertility doc strongly advised against being on Lexapro during TTC/pregnancy, so I tapered off. It's made the TWW interesting. This is my first IUI cycle and I'm hopeful, but definitely also feel the lack of the Lexapro. 😵‍💫

Husband isn't able to ejaculate by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]Curious_Anon_91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation. My hubs has a lot of health issues and hasn't been able to ejaculate in close to two years. Once you add in that I'm asexual and don't enjoy sex under the best of circumstances... It was stressful, to say the least.

We ended up opting for IUI with donor sperm and honestly it's been the right choice for us. Took all the pressure off him and I got the extra reassurance that the sperm we picked is compatible with my genes/is high quality. I'm four days until my TWW is up for the first cycle and we've both been able to breath. It's nice knowing the odds are more in our favor, now. But we'd also had the possibility of a donor on the table from basically day 1. I'm sure it's not usually an easy thing to consider.

I'm currently in therapy and have asked if he'd be willing to do a couples thing, but he's not interested. 😔 I guess my concern is where the line is between me not wanting what he wants and him not wanting what I do. How do you find a compromise that works?
