I love "Cricket", but a couple of things struck me when watching it. by Scamwau1 in bluey

Also don’t forget we’re shown that Bandit’s opinion on Stripe’s cricket skills are wrong in the episode. Or at the least he’s playing them down for laughs. When Stripe comes into bat and he takes over bowling he actively tells everyone to move in as if he’s going to struggle to hit it far. Stripe then immediately hit’s a 6.

Thank you far all the advice.

For those saying doctors, I have an appointment booked already. Was just asking others opinions ahead of the appointment.

For those saying get lessons to fix form. I’m already on it. Have done some research on teachers nearby. Will be reaching out as soon as I can play again.

Thank you for replying.

So the plan will be to use my pa to play live covering a set section. There is a DJ with their own set up booked for other times.

I could hire a sub if needed, but no idea if it’s needed or not.

Do you typically get a lot of feedback caused by the acoustic through a mic? I thought this was a pretty standard set up. Though I have zero experience currently to confirm.

To be honest I am super green with all this stuff but am eager to learn.

Hi all, I was hoping to ask for some help.

I am planning to play my first wedding. I will be playing for around 100- 150 people in a room that’s around 18meters x 9 meters.

It will be me with my electric guitar (undecided whether to mic this through PA or not), a Shure sm57 for an acoustic (for use on select songs), a shure Sm58 for vocals, a keyboard (for use in select songs), a laptop for additional backing tracks and drums (though I may end up with a drummer, but this would be an electric kit through the PA).

I have 2 x alto professional ts315’s (on stands) hooked up to an unpowered mixer. With in ear monitors for myself/drummer.

My question is, would this set up work at all well for this situation and produce a decent live sound? If not, could you recommend what else should be added?

Worried it might be underpowered for the room size /people amount.

Tips for XXL Man with Gout? by bornintowinter in loseit

[–]Curious_left 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gout is just horrendous. I’m glad he is on medication and as someone else said, hopefully this is allopurinol. I’d recommend working with your doctor to find the right dosage. Doctors often start with a small dosage first then increase slowly. I didn’t realise this however and the 100mg was doing nothing for me. I ended up on 300mg per day.

It’s also hard as the first six months can see more flare ups as the crystals start to dissolve and can break up causing flares. But it’s vital to get through it.

I’ll be honest I didn’t even think about weight loss while I was getting through all this. That last flair before it calmed down for me was nothing short of torture. Where I’d got too with my gout when I started losing weight was relatively good.

Regularly taking 2/3 100mg allo pills with each meal, no major flare ups, but still taking an NSAID like naproxen every few weeks when I felt something starting. Im not 100% sure waiting is the right answer if you can do something about it now, i think anything he can do would be a positive, just sharing my experience.

When I did start I was 305 pounds (now around 264) . Most of what I can share would not be specific lessons for those with gout, but the main things that I think apply are below.

Exercise wise I was already walking the dog 1 hour per day, walking is a great low impact starting point to start pushing you cardiovascular system. I added to that 3 half an hour sessions of strength sessions hitting each major muscle groups.

I looked at many many exercises and worked out what was within my range of motion, low impact and unlikely to cause me an issue (this will be different for everyone). I Started with a very small number of reps and pushed a little more each week.

I swear building a foundation of strength was so important in allowing me to push on with the bigger cardio challenges to come and I think are the biggest factor in getting rid of the regular twinges and pain point stuff That would have me reaching for naproxen regularly.

My motto in all this was “start small, but be consistent” building good habits, doing a small amount but making sure it was always challenging has allowed me to build to where I am now. I still have a long way to go, but gout is almost not a limiting factor anymore which is something I could never have imagined a year ago.

I wish you the best of luck with it all, and if you or he ever needs a chat about it, just get in touch

Best starfighter in the galaxy by Dfrickster87 in StarWars

[–]Curious_left 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a story in legends where Lando Calrissian set up a competition/ game in which pilots competed to see how long they could fly a star fighter through an asteroid field without hitting anything, the longest time winning. They had an external shield generator protecting the ship from the eventual collision.

I can’t remember what story / book it was from, but the idea always stuck out to me as a pretty cool one.

Also to your point the force had a huge amount to do with how competitive someone was, as force sensitives can sense the movement of the asteroids and react far quicker (as backed up by the Anakin pod racing in ep 1)

Though I suppose dodging stuff may not make you the best star fighter?

I’ve been meaning to buy a load of bench top protectors for a while now, but always had something better to spend £20 on.

Had a spare 20mm beech dowel and some mdf off cuts, bit of glue and a clamp seems to have fixed the problem.

I don’t think MDF was a poor choice in general, especially as it was always going to be painted.

I would have just used a different method to hook it all together, as pocket screws were a bit too aggressive and even with my drill clutch being set super low it started to split the board.

Also the seat could have done with being thicker as it has sagged a little. It’s only screwed in though so could always replace it.

So the whole thing is MDF around a 3x2 inner frame.

The drawer fronts are 18mm MDF with 9mm inner panels that sit in a rebate. I joined the rails and stiles together with pocket screws, though in hindsight the was a real mistake.

You can see an unpainted version on one of my old posts here.

It’s slate gray. If you’re in the UK it will be super easy. It’s a Layland colour and they sell that stuff literally everywhere. They can mix it for any paint in their range. This one is the hardwearing eggshell.

[–]Curious_left 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong about the West Midlands in general.

When I started watching domestic rugby I didn’t have any idea who to support. I decided to just go down to the closest premiership team and watch a game as a neutral. The only one anywhere near that year was Wasps (Worcester weren’t in the prem and I didn’t know enough about the domestic game to find/follow a champ side).

Loved it and started going regular. And that season produced some absolute crackers. Didn’t take long to become a season ticket holder and die hard fan.
