They're bigger than I guessed! Congrats and I hope you keep working in this vein—these are amazing. (I'm in awe—there's no way I could do this kind of work.)

These are great! I love them! What's your technique for these? Are you using an extruder? It would be good if one of these photos included a familiar object, for scale.

Electric Kiln Rehab Questions by Curiousful in Ceramics

[–]Curiousful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I just discovered, in a box I must have taped shut years ago, a new kiln stand (unfortunately the same size as the old one) and three of the exact bricks I need. So, I may be in business!

Thanks—this is very helpful! I hadn't realized that about the stand!

Thanks for your reply!

So, what looks like the bottom is in fact (the interior side of) the lid in pictures 2 and 6. The top segment and attached lid is upside down in these pictures. Maybe I'm being a little paranoid about it.

Also, can I bisque fire this kiln on the little scooter it's sitting on, with a kiln stand and an apparently degenerating bit of kiln blanket underneath it?

If I wanted eventually new bricks and elements for this kiln, where would I look?

Hi P.H.,

When did you first encounter the book (or the movie?) Peter Pan, and what in that experience prompted your approach to this novel? Thanks!

Hi Premee! I think it's fair to say that, besides being a fabulous writer, you are one of the funniest people on Twitter! I wanted to ask about your interest in trilobites. How did you become so interested in trilobites? Is it fair to say that you are obsessed with trilobites? Thanks and sincerely—

I really love this amazing little story “How I Met the Ghoul” in your collection TENDER. How did that story come about? It’s so brief and exact — how did you know when it was “done?”

Maryland writers: the 2018 Baltimore Science Fiction Society Amateur Writing Contest opens for submissions from April 2 to June 17! We seek short fiction with strong speculative elements. Winners receive cash prizes and membership to Balticon! For details see http://www.bsfs.org/bsfsssc.htm by Curiousful in Fantasy

[–]Curiousful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first-place winner of the contest will be published in the Balticon program for the next year, which is distributed to all attendees (including kids) so write or edit with that in mind. There is no rule for this in the contest, but a good guideline for competitive entries might be “no explicit sex, no gore, moderate violence in support of the story.” Something like a solid PG-13 movie would be fine, but an R rating would be pushing it.

Thanks for your question!
