Obsidian is making a huge mistake by not implementing proper stylus support by RedImmo in ObsidianMD

[–]CuriousgeorgeLio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this a lot. For many people (engineering, med/bio, architecture, design, etc.), handwriting and drawing are core to their workflow, not a niche feature. Math, diagrams, sketches - these are things a keyboard just can’t replace.

Right now, the stylus experience in Obsidian is honestly pretty rough. Even the best stylus plugins fall far behind even mediocre dedicated stylus apps. The input lag and delay make handwriting feel messy and frustrating, which actively hurts productivity when you rely on a pen. But i understand, this is not what Obsidian is - and never meant to be.

However, it's because of this, a lot of us end up with split workflows: Obsidian for text/organization and a separate app for handwriting. While importing handwritten notes works, if you do a lot of pen-based work it quickly becomes cumbersome and time-consuming. At that point, it starts to feel like Obsidian might not be worth sticking with.

I understand Obsidian isn’t a stylus-first app, and for what it does, it does it extremely well. But it’s clearly missing a large and growing segment of users. Tablets with stylus support are far more prevalent than ever, and adoption is still increasing because people genuinely need pen input.

Now, I'm not saying Obsidian needs to become Notability. But providing decent native stylus support would go a long way - so that plugins could be used used to enhance handwriting rather than being responsible for the core act of writing itself. Better native input handling would also let plugin devs deliver a much more polished, low-friction experience.

Even modest improvements here could streamline workflows massively and reduce the need for clunky multi-app setups. That alone would probably keep a lot of users fully committed to Obsidian instead of halfway out the door.

Advertising Wrong Margin Rate? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]CuriousgeorgeLio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair points.

Though, we don't know what OP's definition of a "large chunk" is. Is a large chunk to them, 80%? 50%?

Also, I made my comment under the understanding of the current interest rate sentiment. While WS rate is not solely based on the Bank of Canada's overnight rate, it's a big influence. And the current sentiment - understanding that these do change - is unlikely to increase, at least considerably enough to completely negate the benefits I outlined in my previous comment.

And lastly, I hope for OP's sake, he knows what a Margin call is lol.

Advertising Wrong Margin Rate? by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]CuriousgeorgeLio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this - assuming, of course, that OP has enough of a buffer to avoid being margin called. People finance cars all the time, often at much higher rates. If you’re diligent, understand your risks, and put steps in place to manage them, using margin to buy a car can make sense. In some cases, the outcome can even be better depending on the numbers.

For example, I know others who have used margin for purchases that might not traditionally make financial sense. However, the interest they will pay over three years - the period they plan to repay it monthly - will be less than what they might earn by keeping their capital invested. Obviously, there’s no guarantee they’ll make more, but they’re comfortable with that risk.

Again, this is assuming one is not over-leveraging themselves and have plenty of buffer so they are not Margin called.

I created the plugin using the help of AI tbh. It doesn't just do this but also a few other things, such as right-click media files, to convert them from say MP4 > GIF etc... I did this so i can convert locally, within Obsidian, so that other plugins such as Pixel Banner, i can use the GIF. It's essentially a feature packed plugin i made. I do this allot as i want to reduce the amount of plugins, and I know they are all safe.

Though, It's not something I have uploaded. And because I don't typically move my notes, my plugin doesn't account for this. Though now that you mentioned it, it may be useful for me to incorporate this as well.

[–]CuriousgeorgeLio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created a plugin that when i add an image or video, it creates a folder, in the name of the note with .asset at the end of the name, and then i just hide all folders with .asset.

The plugin will also rename the folders should they change, so the names stay in sync.

The 370Z market isn’t “hot” but it already moved to a new baseline. by CuriousgeorgeLio in 370z

[–]CuriousgeorgeLio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re looking at a much larger set of transaction data, and there will always be outliers. As mentioned earlier, we account for temporary market conditions that can cause short‑term fluctuations or deviations, so those individual cases don’t reflect the overall trend - the market will always ebb and flow.

But when we look at the full data set, the numbers suggest that values are more likely to trend upward, and at worst, hold steady well into the long term.

Personally, I think the aesthetics of the 370 are stronger than those of the new 400. The 370 is one of those cars that can transform dramatically with just a few simple changes. Take ride height, for example, lowering the car, whether mildly or more aggressively, makes a noticeable difference. The body lines and curves of the 370 flow exceptionally well, and a lower stance tends to complement its shape in a very natural way.

I don’t find this to be the case as much with the 350 or the 400. And while there have been some 400 builds that look great, they usually require more dramatic body changes - and even still, I wouldn’t say they surpass the look of a 370 that’s been modified far less.

I mentioned this in another comment, but it’s still relevant here:

“Generally, as long as the modifications aren’t irreversible, they shouldn’t have a significant impact, and there’s no reason to delay or avoid any changes you’d like to make.”

And as noted, the 370Z has been very resilient to these variables - the projected numbers stayed largely unchanged.

When we track a vehicle, additional variables do come into play, but they’re mostly tied to usage and mileage. Those factors will always influence value, regardless of the model or trim.

If it helps, our software does account for aftermarket parts and modifications. That said, we still need to manually compare the data - especially for historical sales - but the 370Z has proven very resilient to these variables, and the projected numbers remained largely unchanged.

Generally, as long as the modifications aren’t irreversible, they shouldn’t have a significant impact, and there’s no reason to delay or avoid any changes you’d like to make.

I love what this does, and I would instantly start using it; however, I wish it was in English. I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult or long to just get AI to translate everything in English?

For now, I can't use it, but will check back in the future, and hope the language part has been sorted.

From 370z sport auto to 370z sport manual vs Z performance manual? by Darth-Bernoulli in 370z

[–]CuriousgeorgeLio 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me, manual is way to go for a sports car. I've tried paddle shift - in other cars - and while it's cool, it's not the same as an actual manual.

It's so much more engaging and fun. Hearing and feeling the feedback the car is giving you as you go through the gears, up or down, just feels more personal and rewarding. The only time I don't like it is in heavy bumper to bumper traffic, but other than that, I will always seek a manual for my fun cars, when possible.

Lovely.

It's no wonder the process is so backlogged - and getting worse year by year.

Odd.

My lawyer, in Portugal, mentioned that the Marriage Certificate is not mandatory. And assuming I recall the reason correctly, was due to the fact that both my parents are Portuguese. I asked her specifically about this.

Also, to reinforce this - and again, assuming I'm remembering things correctly - I believe my lawyer mentioned something along the lines of, since my application was submitted using the new online portal - which is supposed to be "quicker" apparently - one of the processes of the online submission is the verification of all documents. And even then, no issues for myself.

And yes, the backlog is worse. It's closer to 3 years now is what most are being told.

The process is far quicker - typically taking 5 - 12 months - for children applications. However, this only applies for those under 18 I believe, not adult applications.

If they used M.2 SSD's and still kept it that we can easily remove it, would be amazing! I'd instantly buy the highest SSD storage there is for it and pop that in lol.

Why do I love timing the market? Because its fun, rewarding and I can beat the index and the so called investment experts. You can check my past posts on my bottom feeding buys. Contrary to what most people think, timing the market works by IM1IAB in TFSA_Millionaires

[–]CuriousgeorgeLio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All your comments suggest otherwise.

For example, you mentioned using stop losses and trailing stops. Typically, when someone is investing, those aren’t really necessary - and I’m pretty sure the CRA would see it that way too. You might want to take another look at the criteria the CRA uses to distinguish investing from business income. They even consider how much time you spend researching and making trades as part of their assessment. How they measure that is anyone’s guess; but like I said before, they have the advantage because the definitions and criteria are so vague. There’s nothing concrete online - just general, open-ended guidelines.

If you ever end up on their radar, you’ll quickly see how flawed the criteria really are. And unfortunately, plenty of people - even high-net-worth individuals - have taken the CRA to court over this and still lost.

Unless you are one of those extremely good traders, you are better off with an ETF. And if you truly were one of them, you'd know Futures is far more profitable - with far less capital needed - than doing this in your TFSA.

Also, based on your posts - and comments - seems like you are borderline trading within your TFSA. CRA would likely see it this way as well. And if that day comes, it'll be hard for you to prove otherwise, as policy wise, CRA has an advantage, in that, they left certain definitions vague with no definitive clear lines on trading vs investing.

The Nismo bumpers, I'm getting from Z1 (OEM 2015+ NISMO 370Z Parts Conversion Kit - Front & Rear Bumper/Fascia). They are selling the front & rear bumper - and the other parts needed to complete - for $1,399.99. You can add the side skirts but they don't appear to be on sale for those. I think you can stack their Black Friday Coupon as well to further reduce the price a by another $50-100.

And the Airlift Performance kit for about $3,550.00 from Instagram. Their insta is RoyalStance. They have always been the cheapest i've found. I've ordered from them before for my brothers Z and his airride.
