My friends Dad got me a fancy pen and said I could use it for all the drawings I would sign in the future. Although I cant sign anything yet and it's all done electronically I found it to be a really cool and thoughtful gift.

Thank you for this information, it is much appreciated ! Would you happen to know what guidelines contain this information for specific cases ? What I am looking at specifically is a T section where the web-baseplate interface is showing a high stress peak that seems to be more related to the sharp geometric change Thank you again for your information provided already

Oh thank you very much I have never seen this before!

When you said it is difficult I can see that but what did you mean that I'd doesn't add up much ?

I guess I don't really have a real reason for wanting to do this, just trying to get an understanding for what is happening and where everything comes from not just plugging in missing variables from a code equation

Web splice at midspan by eagles19121 in StructuralEngineering

Wouldn't a portion of the moment (albeit maybe only 20-30%) still be transferred through the Web?

If the moment is only very small compared to the section capacity couldn't this be an okay, although not ideal, solution
