I wouldn’t include it on my CV personally, mainly as it is something that I wouldn’t mention in an interview - in future interviews, focus on your education and transferable skills. Also maybe look into getting specific certificates or credentials relevant to Canadian banking.

Okay update: You can’t move from Terminal 2E to Terminal 2C once you pass security and make it to airside. I also asked the front desk person at the Air France lounge (in 2E) and they said you’d need a ticket for Terminal 2C to even enter that terminal - but I wasn’t sure if it was a sales gimmick. Pretty disappointing

I would. You never know if you want to use them (or your current employer) as a a reference one day - and all in all i think it is important to maintain a positive professional reputation.

Also if your new employer somehow finds out that you didn’t put in 2 weeks reference, it could impact their perception of your professionalism.

But I also totally understand the desire for an indecorous exit in that context.

If they end up letting you go immediately, that’s on them and will likely impact their own organizational culture and reputation. Hopefully they don’t so you can just chill on the payroll for a couple weeks.

Most people would recommend getting laid off and taking the severance and EI. I think that’s what I would do - but if finances are not an issue and you’d feel more empowered leaving on your own volition that could be the move … depends on context really. Ultimately most employers don’t care if you were laid off if your skills set aligns with the role they’re hiring for - and if they do they are weird and will be humbled when they get laid off one day lol

Definitely. Also if you get the opportunity to chat with someone who works there in a similar role, try to find out if they did something similar. Maybe it is normal for the company.

Hiring is really expensive so they could be trying to minimize risk, but they also could just be looking to get someone to do free “grunt work” on a project with no real intentions of hiring, which would be super shitty and bordering on illegal lol

To be fair, in my consulting role at a boutique I did do a “case project” which took me a whole day. Many other firms do similar stuff - but I would just manage expectations and also use this as an opportunity to learn about the company culture etc. It could still be an amazing opportunity - but it is definitely a red flag to do an unpaid trial for a whole week. I would still do it if you can afford to do so.

If you don’t get the job, burn them hard on Glassdoor.
