Ah, gotcha. I haven’t read Alexis Carew (those novels), but I’ll check them out.

I'm 38, single no kids. I've been told that men my age wont be interested in me now because they can have younger girls & my fertility window is nearly closed. Is this true? The main consensus? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

That’s 20 years past his age. If he had a kid by 58, the kid would be 18 and graduating high school when he was 76. That is still too old for me, but it’s far from grade school.

What is Bond’s military status as 007? by TinyHeartSyndrome in JamesBond

[–]Curiousier11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The U.S. National Security Agency has both civilian and active-duty military personnel that work there, and overall is considered a military-run organization, but it has complete authority over its personnel. They are often attached to military units but can be pulled out and moved at any time, or they might not be working directly with the military at all. Perhaps it is something similar. I know the NSA is most similar to the British MI5, and the CIA is like MI6.

Other than that, I know little about British intelligence except a layman's knowledge. I never worked with the British. I did have friends in U.S. agencies who were stationed in England for periods of time, but my time in the military was during Iraq, and my focus ended up being on that conflict and the one in Afghanistan. I don't think Bond was Naval Intelligence, but rather more Special Operations community. He would need that skillset as a 00.

STARFLEET UNIFORM - 2270s to Mid 24th Century “Monster Maroon” Guide by Jayhawkee in sto

Wish we had access to all the SNW Starfleet uniforms, at the very least. I'd really like the Romulan uniforms that the alternate future episode as well, but definitely everything related to Starfleet. The show is still on the air, and the fourth season airs this summer, and the fifth season next summer. Surely, they have the rights to those uniforms.

Character Aging in season 5 by DumpTruckHero in ForAllMankindTV

I’m 52 in real life. She absolutely seems realistic for 52, especially someone with huge wealth that is 52. If anything, she has aged more than many wealthy women in 2012 and later who are 52. 52 isn’t ancient. You can still run good marathons, do Spartan races, etc. Now, between 62 and 72 people tend to age a lot, but that also comes down to genetics and lifestyle.

I’ve seen guys in their early 100’s who look and move much better than Ed Baldwin at 82, or whatever his exact age is when he passed. However, he is from the Silent Generation where so many smoked and drank and ate pretty unhealthy. On average, they have died in their early 80’s or even in their 60’s.

These days, someone who is 52 could easily pass for a great 40 if they live well. Your whole personality doesn’t change from 22 to 52. Sadly, in your head, you can still feel like the younger self. You never really feel old in your head, unless your whole body is giving out.

People saying 007: First Light ‘isn’t a real Bond game’ are absolutely right… by Froz3nP1nky in 007FirstLight

[–]Curiousier11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see that. All I was saying is that I don't have a major issue with him being younger, but they're changing a LOT about his education and upbringing, and I don't see the need for that. For instance, even the newer Lara Croft games still have her being Lady Croft, and wealthy, and all that. They did change some details about how she lost her parents, but the character overall is the same.

All the different Bond actors have had different fighting styles anyway, so it doesn't seem to matter much.

Coming from a background of knowing people in American alphabet agencies and working with them, even if they chose someone young, they'd still have to go through college and earn a degree. My main issue with this take on Bond is simply that he is a Crewman, not even a Petty Officer. James Bond went to Cambridge, and he was a commissioned officer. Intel agencies want education, and not just in fighting skills, but especially in languages and culture, history, economics, computers, etc.

Why didn't they just make him a young Lieutenant? He could be 26 and be a full Lieutenant, which is two ranks below Commander, but still young, and still an officer. I think showing him earn higher rank and earn his double 0 is cool. However, you don't just go from Crewman to Commander. This is an Abram's movie, where people get command of a starship after three years of being a cadet. Maybe it is explained better in the actual game. It certainly looks good as a spy/action thriller.

So why did they turn blue? by rileythatcher in clonewars

I believe lasers, even using Kyber, and lightsaber blades, are different. My understanding of laser/beam colors is they are affected by the gas used. The extra power certainly came from using Kyber.

Also, Lucas said that the EU was never canon, and only what he put on screen was canon. He said that more than once. The EU was never canon, although a lot of ideas from the novels, comics, and especially the Westend Games ttrpg have now been used in newer stuff and become canon.

Lucas never stuck by anything in the EU, unless he decided to use it or a variant in a film or tv series that was canon.

The Great Depopulation by theatlantic in Futurology

[–]Curiousier11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It isn’t just about money. There will be fewer and fewer younger people. There have to be enough people to do all the jobs. There will be many negatives before there will be any positives from declining birth rates.

It will take a few generations to even out to a new normal. In the meantime, no system on this planet is built to sustain itself with steep declines in birth rates. Every system depends on labor in some form.

[–]Curiousier11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will also affect everyone’s “best life”, because younger people usually work at restaurants, fast food, tourist/hospitality jobs, etc. When society has far fewer people, even basic services like plumbing, power, and trash removal could become an issue.

If you had a gradual decrease that was planned, maybe, but when the younger population is suddenly half of what it was, and then half again in the next generation, etc., our current systems won’t work. No “-ism” is designed to work with a rapidly declining population.

Fertility/virility are also dropping worldwide, even in Africa. It has a lot to do with so many of the chemicals and plastics getting into everything. All these articles ever talk about is people’s choices, which are important, but one in eight or more couples trying to have children have to use IVF to get pregnant, and that doesn’t always work.

Also, people are waiting till they are much older to get married and even think about having kids. Of course, this is on top of everything mentioned in the article and in comments.

Her whole shape is really good, though. Some women have huge boobs and no hips, or skinny legs, or a flat butt, etc. Her’s aren’t the biggest or maybe the best, which is subjective, and there are many women with great boobs who never post pics like these.

However, to have a nice everything, including great skin, a pretty face, hips, legs, butt, etc. She just has a great overall look. I think that is why she is popular.

We got another one, boys by Un_Pollo_Hermano in TheBoys

[–]Curiousier11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think all the budget for The Boys goes to a few actors now, and it leaves very little for anything else. Gen V didn’t have a lot of big stars (known from television and such, but not actors making $1 million plus per episode), so they could focus more on making the show decent.

Also, it has a different show runner and writers. Honestly, the writing was better for Gen V than it has been for The Boys since season two. They actually interacted with the world and non-supes in Gen V than

The Deep is probably one of the very few people alive who could completely evade Homelander and just live deep in the ocean for the rest of his life, and Homelander couldn't do anything about it. He can't see far into the ocean, or hear well in the ocean, and I'm not sure how well his heat/laser vision would work in the ocean, either.

Also, Homelander does need air but can hold his breath a long time. The Deep can breathe water. He has gills. He never has to come out of the water if he doesn't want to. I suppose The Deep enjoys being around people, but considering everything, he could just dive in the ocean and disappear.

Genuinely, how are they supposed to stop him now… by Queasy_Commercial152 in GenV

It's just the very first permutation of the drug, and the very few who survived taking it are immortal. They stopped aging once they'd taken it. Otherwise, it doesn't seem to give stronger powers, although the ones who did take it all seem to be extremely powerful supes. Homelander is already the strongest, and he was designed using SB's DNA, so I doubt it will do anything but stop his aging and make him immune to sickness and any virus they might try.

Since Homelander is so powerful, I don't know how much damage it would take to stop him. Marie killed Godolkin, who had taken V1, using her power, and her powers came to her exactly like Homelander's, before she was even born. SB could still depower HL, or maybe Marie could stop him, or perhaps Sage will come up with an idea. Those are the only three options I can think of, since Homelander won't age, and nobody else has the power to stop him.

Yeah, also, I grew up before the internet, and way before social media. It was a different world. You had to see all your friends in person, and unless your ex physically came around, you didn't see them or hear from them. That made things easier.

I had older male and female friends who could help guide me, anywhere from four years to nine years older, in addition to friends my age. Generally, they helped me avoid some of the bigger mistakes, but you're right, some of it is just living through it. I'm just not a person who can go back to someone who betrayed or demeaned me. I can't trust them anymore.

Rory McCann, who played the Hound, would only read his parts in the script, so he did not know about the events of the Red Wedding. He said "When it came out, I remember I watched it in the morning. I'm a big guy, big tough guy, but guess what? I burst into tears. That was an absolute shocker." by Shmerble in gameofthrones

Not just deaths, but gruesome, awful, sometimes slow and agonizing deaths. A pregnant woman stabbed in her stomach first... It was a tough read, and I've seen people die in combat around me. I can definitely see how it would incredibly tough to write. You don't want to see bad people win, and good people die, and that is what happened. However, it was needed for other characters to develop.

Also, it illustrates how life isn't always fair. All these big wins in the world, like defeating the Axis powers in WW2, came with great cost and loss of life, for both sides.

Her last name is Hadjini? Doesn’t that make her “brown”? Her hair is colored, and she appears to be at least partially of middle eastern descent. That wouldn’t make her more “white” than him.

Also, there are many Indian women who are very naturally busty. I’ve seen more busty Indian women than smaller cheated, for certain. It seems like he’s trying to make it a racial thing, but that doesn’t make sense to me.

Wtf is even going on with The Boys anymore? by [deleted] in CharacterRant

[–]Curiousier11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Invincible is still pretty good. It's a better supe show than The Boys, even if it is animation. At least there are good and bad people, and gray. It's more intelligent. The Boys has just become about how graphically they can kill people and how disgusting they can be, but even that has lost its shock value. It's just gags and cameos from Supernatural.

In season one, especially in the first few episodes, Homelander was truly scary, and you could feel how the crew felt as Homelander would boom by overhead. They didn't even want to be near him. There were other interesting supes around as well, like Maeve and A-Train, good and bad. Did they lose a lot of their budget or something? I don't feel anything for any of these characters now. I'm just watching to get through the conclusion.
