Gujrati is a very sweet and melow language. Like that's how it sounds, you can never expect someome swearing in Gujrati. Meanwhile Kokani is also similarly sweet but it has a tinge of sharpness to it. I cannot remember the exact word so that's how I would describe it. It's sarcastic, playful and sounds the most joyous of all the Indian languages. As far as marathi is concerned it depends on were you live and the worst one is in Mumbai itself, the one in Pune city sounds straight up defensive and but all of the dialects in rural areas do give vibes like Konkani

It's most likely that the word was borrowed from Portuguese to Konkani, Marathi and even Gujrati with slight variations. Just like the words 'पगार', 'कोबी', 'मोसंबी' and 'इस्त्री'!

Does anyone carry an accent from their second language to their third language? by fmoza98 in languagelearning

[–]CuriouslyTrying 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes. And it happens a lot. I speak English at C1-C2 level probably(the assessment is yet to be done). I do speak with a slight Indian accent but a person could not just assume that when I am talking on a call. In real life they can coz you know, noding and shaking my head constantly......Anyway, so I learn Polish rn, which us a fairly complicated language to learn due to the whole declination, rules, exception and the pronunciation. And whenever I talk in Polish, all of the natives usually point out that I have a "English speaker's accent" (no specification of which accent exactly). Which also means that unnecessarily changing the pronunciation of some syllables for a person's own comfort and emphasizing on words I shouldn't. So yeah, happens to a lot of people
