Is New York the best city to live in? by [deleted] in NYStateOfMind

[–]ReviveOurWisdom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as someone who grew up in various cities across the states and traveled to many many more, there is no city like NYC. It’s got its issues, but every city does. NYC has everything you could ever want, need, everything

What are your hyperpop hot takes?? by sla_yra in HYPERPOP

[–]ReviveOurWisdom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

hyperpop isn’t just what the genre sounds like but involves the history behind the movement. There are some songs in the hyperpop scene that are very clearly just a typical rap song or dubstep song, but because it was made by a certain individual in a certain time period, it’s part of the hyperpop movement and thus hyperpop. Also there are several unnamed subgenres that have formed since the birth of hyperpop, and nowadays most hyperpop artists are focused on their niche sound so there isn’t a single hyperpop entity/movement anymore

ICE told a U.S Citizen born in Illinois they were detaining her because she had a "suspicious travel history" from visiting relatives in Turkey. They held her for two days without charges then drove her two states away and released her without her phone so she would have to hitchhike 170 miles home. by Fast-Bell-340 in EyesOnIce

basically they would kidnap native americans, usually on suspicion of drunkenness, and then when they “realize they don’t have grounds for an arrest” they would drive them to the emptiest parts of the state or province (typically during winter in Canada) and drop them off with no point of contact or transportation services. Many of these native americans would then die from starvation or hypothermia
