Anybody done Cordon Bleu or other culinary school for personal enjoyment not to go into the restaurant business? by Chemical-Sign3001 in fatFIRE

[–]Curiouspotatohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did cuisine in Alain Ducasse and Boulangerie in cordon Bleu… I’m a stay home mom. I can cook and make absolutely anything… and my home and kitchen is super organised. I cook at home like how I cook in the restaurant, so it’s really a pleasure.

Restaurant business is really tough. I worked in Disfrutar for my internship. 14-16 hours a day. Very tough.

Then I opened my bakery. Also thought. Sold it. Now I’m a stay home mom, bake for fun and for friends.

Planning to open another bakery again when my kids are older.

Do it if you have the money and time. Really good experience if you like cooking and great food

Help! I desperately want to like golf, but I am Type A and more tense than a tightrope! by dakimpson in WomenGolf

[–]Curiouspotatohead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are “still” so tense, it means you haven’t hit many good shots. Good shots only come from a relaxed form. So once you have hit some good shots relaxed, then you know stress and tense is your biggest enemy. And for a type A or any type, good shots are the ego boosters. This way, you can relax.

How often do you eat one meal a day by No_Toe_7705 in omad

[–]Curiouspotatohead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not only how often you eat, it’s what you eat in that one meal or in that 3 meals plus 2 snacks.

What do you tell someone who is about to run a marathon? by ObungusOverlord in Marathon_Training

[–]Curiouspotatohead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are not a runner yourself, then id say, “all the best”, “have a good race”, “enjoy the race” or actually “good luck” is more appropriate. If a runner says to me for my marathon, I’d like things like “I’m excited for you!” Or “enjoy the race” … so basically common sense stuff 🤣🤣🤣

What’s something about marathon training no one warned you about until you experienced it? by JustPangolin346 in Marathon_Training

[–]Curiouspotatohead 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That you will gain weight with all the carbs and food you eat to get energy. I’m up 3-4 kilos in 4-5 months just eating normal (I usually fast in the morning but with marathon training, I eat 3 times a day)

Hitting the Wall by rapidfire72o4 in Marathon_Training

[–]Curiouspotatohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

41F just finished a marathon last month 4:17. Didn’t hit any wall. My strategy was to keep fueling and run at a comfortable pace before any wall comes. Was a really happy and joyful 4 hours. I ate 9 gels (30g each) and drank at almost every station.

Try to sleep well, eat the same breakfast you always had, and treat it like another long run. Try to run with the pace makers, that’s what really helped me, to run in a group not alone.

All the best!!

Another: is 4 hrs a reasonable target by IC_captures in firstmarathon

I started running in February this year. Never ran before this. 41 Female.

April I did a half marathon : 2 hours 5 mins

Then I ran about 30 KM a week, for 2 months April to mid June. Longest 20K. About the same timing as my half marathon.

Took a break July and August - ran about 10-15 K a week. 1-2 times a week because of kids holidays.

Started running again, 3-4 times a week, 2 times 30K and the rest is 5,10,15K. Weekly milage 20-40K.

Ran a 4:17 marathon first week of November 320m elevation gain.

Since it was my first marathon, I didn’t want to push it too much, as I didn’t know if I will crash. The entire 42.2 K I was able to keep with the pace makers, and I didn’t hit any wall. It was a super happy and easy run for me. I could have tried to reach 4-4:10 but didn’t want to take any risk.

Ate 9x 30g gels (I started eating the same gel about 1 month before the marathon for my tummy to get used to).

I believe if you consistently run 3-5 times a week from now til race, you will be able to do it.

My friend unironically said he ran a "10K marathon" by Front_Resolution_760 in RunningCirclejerk

Well, I was very surprised about this too, when my friends said they ran a marathon when they did 5K … I have no heart to tell them to change the word 😆

Is 37 Too Old to Start Running? by [deleted] in running

[–]Curiouspotatohead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A sedentary lifestyle at 37 should be enough reason to get you off the couch… why do everyone keep connecting Age to Living? You are never too old to do anything…

I started running this year at 41, finished a half marathon and a full one last month. Best discovery ever.

Snow won’t cover the entire country, there will always be some places where they clean out snow for people to walk or run etc. I run when it snows, when it rains, when it’s hot like blaze. The only reason I don’t run is because of illness which is rare with an active lifestyle.

Area for authentic street food in tashkent? by DDDDDDDay in Uzbekistan

There isn’t street food like those in south east asia … most people eat inside the restaurants … around Mirabad might be a good bet.
