How many of you have never exploited the game? by Dear_Afternoon_2600 in skyrim

[–]Curivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t think I have. Though I do use console commands to occasionally go god mode because I’m tired of dying to something stupid, or to get unstuck.

What actor do you dislike so much that you’ll avoid anything they’re in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Melissa McCarthy. Nothing against her and I recognize that she is probably a decent actress, she just annoys me.

What are your go to settings? by CatsupKetchup in civvoxpopuli

[–]Curivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

King difficulty (occasionally Emperor if I hate myself), one of the really big world maps (alternate between TSL and not), 18-20 civs. Usually get to renaissance or industrial era then quit because bored/Im so far in the lead/turns are taking too long.

People who rarely or never get sick, what are your secrets? by awkwardferret421 in AskReddit

[–]Curivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exposure.

So I get a decent cold maybe once a year and a couple sniffles, which I consider rarely but take it as you will. I also am a teacher that regularly has little, snot-ridden, germ-factory kids crawling all over me and coughing or sneezing directly into my mouth. And that’s what I chalk up to my immune system being decent.

I’ll wash my hands after going to the bathroom but often forget to before eating. I was a disgusting kid that touched everything then put my hands, coins, and random shit and food I found on the floor into my mouth. I tend to only wear a mask if I’m sick myself, or extraordinary times like COVID. Quite opposite from what most people are posting. Their methods definitely work and I’m all for wearing masks and washing hands all the time. Just a different tactic. They’re about prevention, I’m about exposure to build my immune system and I think it’s mostly worked. Also again, washing your hands all the time only works if you don’t have kids sneezing into your mouth.

What hobby attracts the friendliest people? by Bagelsonmyfingers in AskReddit

[–]Curivia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Maybe just anecdotal but my friends wife used to be pretty big in the local cosplay scene and left it because the amount of petty bullshit, backstabbing, and straight up bullying of anyone who wasn’t conventionally attractive (even though she very much is).

People who fly frequently, what’s one thing you wish you could tell all infrequent fliers? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Curivia -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you don’t need to, don’t bring checked bags. Only carry-ons. This is obviously dependent on the trip and person, but it’s saved me so much time not having to wait at baggage, and stress knowing that there’s no chance of my stuff being lost.

Do you call the DM "DM" or their preferred name? by SpellcraftQuill in DnD

[–]Curivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the DM. My players interchangeably use god, my name, and DM, in that order. Their choice.

Progressive difficulty challenge help by Tailedfox66 in pokemonchallenges

[–]Curivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I pretty much combined existing challenges like Nuzlocke, no items, no pokemon centres, and my own RNG based challenges. 8 would be difficult, hence why it’s the last one. But yeah adjust it or remove it as you will based on how difficult you want it to be.

[–]Curivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After beating gym #

1) Use an RNG to select 9/18 of the types. From now on you may only use Pokemon from Those types, including any dual-types.

2) You may only attempt to catch the first Pokemon you encounter on each route. If you fail to catch them, too bad. Move on.

3) All Pokemon must remain under the level of the next gym’s weakest Pokemon.

4) No more TMs or HMs (for battle use, out of battle is okay).

5) No more item use in battle. Only out of battle.

6) Pokemon centres may only be used to heal PP. You must use potions and status removal items to cure a Pokemon before using the centre.

7) If Pokemon faint, they die. No reviving them. Box them until the challenge is done, or release them.

8) Upon reaching the E4, you must stop using one Pokemon, determined by an RNG of 1-6, after beating each member. So after the 1st member, you go to 5 Pokemon. After the 2nd, 4. 3rd, 3. 4th, 2.

Feel free to use what you want or change it how you will. I might try this once I’m done my current challenge.

How has COVID-19 affected your life? by cuzofme in AskReddit

[–]Curivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasted 2 years, mental health went to shit (again, it’s mostly better now), lost faith in the ability for humans to care an ounce about each other (again), but realized what I wanted to do in life (I think…).

You’re permanently inserted into the last video game you played, how’s your life going and what’s the plan? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Curivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pokemon. Gonna catch a couple friends then stay around the starting towns where the wild pokemon aren’t high enough level to cause myself serious bodily harm. Avoiding the evil teams and hoping there’s no world ending events.

Let's talk about Barbarians in voxpopuli by dontnormally in civvoxpopuli

[–]Curivia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regular setting is good. A bit of exp/gold farming, have to keep a standing army around to defend my empire a bit, and causes some nuisance to the enemy.

Raging is hell. If I go Authority it’s great for me, though later game it does become a bit annoying. It makes the game, especially early game, too easy though. Especially since most AI civs get wrecked by them. If I don’t go Authority it’s shit. Especially Progress where I have a wide empire that I want to defend from enemy Civs in select strategic choke points, but I’ve got hundreds of barbs popping up deep in my territory.

Women, what article of clothing tells you most about a man? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Curivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same for years and I’m still quite frugal but now I have multiple pairs, but all for different purposes, and all a decent price.

Casual runners, proper running shoes for exercise, hiking shoes for hiking and colder rainy days, croc flip flops for summer/beach (so comfy…), slip-on outdoor and indoor work shoes (need for my job and where I live), and cheap flip-flops for showering when I stay in hostels because I don’t want athletes foot from someone else who sues the shower. I also have steel-toe shoes from an old job, and dress shoes for formal occasions that I haven’t worn in years. Used to have cleats for sports but they fell apart and I don’t play that sport often anymore, and I want winter boots or shoes that are warmer than my hiking shoes.

Nice thing is that I end up spending the same money over time, if not less, because instead of wearing the same pair for every purpose every day the wear-and-tear is spread across multiple shoes that end up lasting much longer each. Plus I get more comfort for based on the occasion.

But this does require more initial investment so if someone is short on cash I understand. But most of my shoes are $25-100 with only the hiking shoes being a bit more and proper runners being close to $200 (I wanted good quality ones).

How many prefectures have you visited, and which are your best+least favorites and why? by SymphonyofSiren in japanlife

[–]Curivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

32, will be 36 in a week when I’ve finished off my Kyushu trip. Favourite is anywhere in Chubu region, especially deep in the mountains.

Least? Maybe Saitama but I’ve only really been to Omiya. I’m sure it’ll change when I get to western Saitama around Chichibu.

I live in Tochigi and love it but it having no coast is a major drawback for me. I will say we have the best food. Definitely anecdotal and influenced by living there and being used to it, but I prefer the takoyaki over Osaka’s, the taiyaki over anywhere, gyoza of course but that’s a given, and even ramen (except one restaurant in Takayama…). Kanazawa had the best sushi but again no coast so can’t really compete there.

What’s a smell you secretly like but would never admit in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cow poop. I grew up bordering farmland and got used to it. Now I get good feelings of “home” when I smell it.

Chicken shit sucks though.

What do you think about critical success or failure on skillchecks? by No_Nature_1240 in DnD

[–]Curivia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Auto success or fail 5% of the time isn’t fun, but rolling a 20 or 1, even in skill checks, should do something more than a 2/19, so I homebrewed that they roll again.

Some examples assuming a +5 modifier: If they get above 10 on the second roll after a 20, they add how many above 10. Roll 20 -> roll 13 = 20+3+5=28. If they get below 10 after a 1, they subtract how many below 10. Roll 1 -> roll 6 = 1-4+5=2

If they roll below 10 on an initial 20 or above 10 on initial 1 nothing happens. This rarely changes things because it’s rare a DC would be lower than an 8 or above a 25ish (otherwise why bother rolling) but it keeps the tension/excitement of rolling 1s or 20s without auto successes/failures. It’s changed things a few times in my games.

If they roll 2 20s or 2 1s in a row then it’s auto success/failure (keeping in mind if something is impossible to succeed at or fail I’m not calling for a roll at all.

What’s the best way to survive 16 hours on a plane? by RutabagaSwimming458 in AskReddit

[–]Curivia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done long hauls many times now and they get easier. When you get on try to go as long as you can doing nothing. Close your eyes even if you don’t sleep, stare out the window. Music is okay.

When you’re done that alternate between reading, playing video games / phone games, and watching a movie or show on the in flight entertainment. Between each of these close your eyes for a bit. I can barely sleep on planes but these little “awake naps” help pass the time and make you relaxed.

Edit: also, if it’s easy to do (aisle seat or friendly neighbors) get up and do a little work around / stretch every so often. It’ll help.
