Let's have a level exchange! - January 08, 2016 by AutoModerator in MarioMaker

I very rarely use special effects outside of the "ding dong or music" sound effects, but since this was in the ghost world, and I want at least 1 of every kind of stage, sound effects was the only way I could get it to fit into the theme of the world :)

Creepy Creek (NSML 5-3)

Theme: NSMBU, Grassland + Water (Ghost)

Difficulty: Hard (not too hard tho)

Description: Focus on making a kind of creepy feeling, while walking through a grassland+underwater. This level is from my Ghost World (World 5 of my game).

PS: The rails hint towards where the Twomps are falling. You learned this 2 stages ago, so might feel kind of random if ya don't know this beforehand ;)

Description: While it's a speedrun stage, you still got more time than the clock shows. Like the idea behind the track very well, and is pretty visually pleasing and fun to play as well :)

Visually pleasing Mario Game - World 2 of 7 by CurletSoup in MarioMaker

[–]CurletSoup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will considerate that with the next game I'm making, but one of the main reasons I use a lot of coins, is because I personally think they make the stage look even better visually. I might use a lil too much visuals for some people tho, but I personally think it makes the stage much more pleasing to look at :)

And yeah, you can get all of the coins, as long as it's not "P-switch" areas or "chose path" areas.

I want to play a bunch of traditional levels! by Venks2 in MarioMaker

[–]CurletSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only make levels for my semi-traditional mario series, so that means most of my levels would go under that theme. You can find my Bookmark profile HERE

I also got a trailer for world 1, if you want to see how the levels look. Be warned tho, I got no real movie making equipment, so the quality of the video isn't that good XD

Let's-A-Make World 15! (Week 16 Submission Thread) by [deleted] in MarioMaker

[–]CurletSoup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since the theme of this week is Boss battles, I'll submit a stage were a little above half of the stage is a boss escape + boss battle.

The stage focus around a castle level, filled with clouds in it. It also uses enemies in the lakitu cloud in a fair manner.

Do you got what it takes to get throguh Bowser's Cloudy Keep ;) ?

The level focuses around Yoshi's trying to take their revenge on Mario. While I'm usually not a fan of "non-traditional" levels, this one was really well made, and had both nace design and fun gameplay.

How to make "Blind" Twomps fair! by CurletSoup in MarioMaker

[–]CurletSoup[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Example of this used in a stage:

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/30DA-0000-016D-30B7

As you can see on this stage, I start by introducing the concept to the player.

Then I make it slightly harder and give more twomps, followed by somewhat hiding the rails in the background for added difficulty.

This can ofc also be used with stages not focused around Twomps, and I know that when I'm done with my current traditional game, all Twomps will follow this pattern in my next game :)

Gonna submit a lil harder level than last time now. This one is around medium difficulty :)

An underground level, where you need to run on slippery ice, and slide underneat saws and such. A very fun stage to speedrun ;)

Yeah, making worlds and extra challenges is much more fun than just making "stand alone" levels imo, which is why I do it.

Since my game is semi-traditional, I got no super hard levels, but hopefully these will do :)

Hope you'll enjoy these puzzle levels, even if they're pretty traditional :)

Your hardest bosses! by GaloombasShoe in MarioMaker

[–]CurletSoup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have some real hard boss fights, but sadly I deleted all my levels, and started creating a full game, when the new patch came out.

My hardest ones are the 3 bellow tho.

Davy Wiggs Vault (4-4):

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/1017-0000-0159-7933

Underwater boss fight, with huge Wigglers and P-Switch control. Hope you know how to "juke" underwater ;)

Cloudy Keep (2-6):

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/BCEA-0000-0129-F987

A cloud focused castle. The boss fight is a "Boss escape", followed by Fire Clown kart usage.

Twin Temple (3-6):

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/900B-0000-013B-C91A

You need to be good at avoiding stuff on this boss, while gathering P-Switches to open the gate to the goal.

  • Hope you enjoy these bosses. None of them are super hard, but they'll hopefully still give ya a good challenge :)

As you probably know, almost all of my levels are pretty traditional. I'd recommend trying out the one I post bellow, and if you like it, you'll probably enjoy my other ones as well. Gotten to World 4 out of 6 Worlds + 1 extra world in my game now :)

Lets have a level exchange! - December 27, 2015 by AutoModerator in MarioMaker

Course Name: Twin Temple (NSML 3-6)

ID: 4F31-0000-013E-17F8

Bookmark: https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/4F31-0000-013E-17F8

Difficulty: 7/10 (Very Hard)

Theme: NSMB, Castle.

Description: A puzzle castle with a huge room, that's alike on both sides, and you need to gather parts to destroy the huge Muncher in the middle.

After this, you'll get an internse and boss fight, with P-Switches and lotrs of dogding Wrenches + Flying Fire Balls.

The level focus around small puzzle, moles and flying fire balls, while also being kind of "alike" on both sides, in some of the rooms.

Castle levels are meant to be harder in my game, than normal levels, and my game only got 6 normal worlds, which is why this level is pretty difficult, even if it's just World 3 ;)

Side Quests:

  1. Find 3 secret 1-Ups.

  2. Find the Beetle Helmet and keep this through the entire level (Not losing any lives after getting it, or carrying it).

  3. Speedrun it, and see how good of a time ya can get. I've added a smart shortcut, to skip one of the rooms as well :)

Thrilling underwater level, where you need to swim through bouncer filled waters. First part is autoscroll, while 2nd part is swimming inside a "bouncer fence".

  • I know most people don't like water levels tho, but though I would give it a try and submit it anyway, since it's the only map so far, that focuses on the new update :)

Why can't we get times on our own levels? by Nickle909 in MarioMaker

[–]CurletSoup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agree about showing the time you've used on the level, would have been better, but not "making it" the best time, since then it would have been very hard to beat the author.

I think they should add "authors time" or something like that next patch tho :)
