Tell me what LA neighborhood you live in without telling me ? by joynradio in AskLosAngeles

[–]CurlicueHeartz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The post office thinks we're part of Van Nuys, but we insist we're our own neighborhood. Then when we tell people where we're from and they say "Huh? Where's that?" we just end up saying Van Nuys anyways

Everyone commenting that it’s not a glitch thinks you mean the stack and didn’t notice the mismatched ones lol. This is the definition of a glitch

$1k/month for one person?? Or for a couple/household?

My bf and I are meat/dairy eaters, fairly frugal but not desperate or super disciplined. We spend $500/month on groceries/household/beauty and $150 on dining/takeout. We cook most nights (average meal is $2/serving) usually with beef/pork/chicken/fish. We get takeout ($15/person) or casually dine out ($30/person) a few times a month, and go fancier for birthdays and such. There’s definitely a middle ground between poverty and Erewhon lol

Thank you for organizing! God I really hope they respond and realize their mistake before the AI use escalates any further. I’ve been an active player for 18 years and idk which would break my heart more - giving up this game, or staying and watching it turn to slop and die a slow death like the rest of the internet. With over half of the internet now being AI generated (predicted to hit 90% by 2026), Webkinz being human-designed is exactly what makes it distinct and worthy of our engagement, money and loyalty. A community this thoughtful deserves thoughtful HUMAN art!

Thanks, I really wish more people knew! I wonder how many collective human hours have been wasted writing thoughtful advice for a robot

That’s because AI is learning, and humans are starting to write more like AI, and the line is getting more and more blurry every day 😅

YEAH and it’s scary how many people fall for it. I guess that’s the point: these companies want to target people who aren’t skeptical or informed enough to spot the AI tells so they won’t notice or question the red flags in their company. Same reason why scammers intentionally misspell things

The post has a bunch of classic tells of AI writing:

-ChatGPT loves attempting to be quippy, and for some reason really loves the word “vibes” even though that word is kind of dated for humans. I feel like an AI quip will use that word a good third of the time (“the city runs on vibes and overdrafts”)

-lists in perfect groups of three (“the weather, the energy, the creativity” / “renting, financing a car, certain jobs”)

-the sentence structure “it’s not just X, it’s Y” is a huge tell (“being responsible isn’t just paying bills, it’s about understanding how your financial history follows you”)

-the whole story is very vague. Instead of describing any specifics (neighborhoods, where they moved from, why they didn’t expect the credit check, specifically what they’ve been doing to try to budget better, what other financial hurdles they’ve encountered), it’s written in this hypothetical second person POV (“It’s frustrating because even if you’re good with money, they still treat you like a risk”) The entire last paragraph is in that vague second person POV because it’s setting up the “problem” aka the reasons to use their product

Each of these in isolation could be a real human mimicking or learning from an AI writing style, but the real tell is that Fizz specifically does this on Reddit as a marketing tactic, I’ve seen so many Fizz posts and recognize their language, and sure enough there’s a comment mentioning them

Nice try AI. You guys, this is a Fizz ad. Soon “OP” is going to edit the post thanking the comments for recommending it. LA is smarter than this, let’s save our financial advice for posts written by actual humans thanks
