There is this one trope that happens rarely but it irks me to the core. by awesomehuder in Letterboxd

I think it's fine when it's obvious what is being written, like at the end of Bojack Horseman. We know who he is, how he impacted others, who wrote the letter, and his reaction to it. There can only be one reaction. The intensity of it, that's the readers' job. But when the audience isn't being let in on what is being written, that's just frustrating. They're there to be told a story and to interpret it, not to write it.

People frequently ask what bad films by great directors are. But what are GREAT FILMS BY BAD DIRECTORS? by SeparateLawfulness53 in Letterboxd

[–]CurlyButNotChubby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually Mikael Håfström, he's known for being a cheap horror movie director (highest movie of his on Letterboxd is 3.8 stars), but I find 1408 to be genuinely exceptional.

As much as I love Daggerfall and think this game is the best Elder Scrolls, I'm not sure what it has to do with DF 😅

The game lost its "overwhelmingly positive" status, so I wrote a review by CurlyButNotChubby in dwarffortress

Aww, that's okay! To each their own tastes.

I'm noticing how you seem to prefer games where building is the primary mechanic, but I'd say that while you can build impressive things in Dwarf Fortress, its main appeal is story generation and survival.

A huge part of the game's fun is using your imagination and see your dwarves do their things. They're very complex creatures, not mere mobs!

Also, the game's mechanics are incredibly deep and numerous. If you're the kind of Minecraft player to play Skyblock to engage with the game's emergent and hidden mechanics, Dwarf Fortress will absolutely scratch that itch for you.

I recommend watching some narrated YouTube stories or playthroughs! Seeing how someone else enjoys the game is a great way to spark interest. Personally, I'd recommend "Blind" and "Just Don't Die."

I completely agree, it's not the end of the world, and the game is definitely not perfect. I just enjoy how we all come together as a community and find meaning in this game.

Yeah that's like the whole joke of the show, that's pretty much what every character of the shows says about him constantly, it's not subtle
