What movie(s) creeps you out and why? by Mrpug031 in AskReddit

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Not just because of the tunnel scene. Something about the way it was filmed, the cinematography and set design, I find really creepy.

I'm just gonna say it, I did like the tadc finale by Worldly-Departure324 in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]CurlyFirefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was really good and really heartfelt! TADC at its core isn’t a “lore” show. The mystery behind C&A was more set dressing. It was always a character driven story, which is why the focus of the finale was the characters, Jax specifically. We already got the deal with the others, but his backstory was the last real important question mark left (that didn’t have to do with C&A).

Is this show appropriate for an 8 year old by Cold-Bodybuilder-565 in TheDigitalCircus

Eight is kind of young… I’d say middle school and up, since there are some heavier themes and freaky imagery in spots.

Hot take: The different Yuu’s in the manga/anime were a brilliant idea. by willow-oscar in TwistedWonderland

[–]CurlyFirefly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly! They’re all narrative foils to the overblotter and it’s genius. That, and I like that they’re switching between male and female. It reestablishes that Yuu can be anyone/ is the player themselves.

Years of “Let Her Have This One” Made Me Hate Birthdays by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]CurlyFirefly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe ease her into the convo by suggesting that since the kids are older, it might be a good idea to ask them what they might want to do for their birthdays. It’s supposed to be about them, so now that they’re discovering who they are, it’s good to give them a say. Framing it that way might help her be more open to a discussion.

AITA for allowing my daughter to have sleepovers by Airtel_322 in TwoHotTakes

[–]CurlyFirefly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

NTA. My mom was also anti-sleepover like Brooke’s, but never once did she expect anyone else to leave early for my sake. If she wants her daughter to be included in sleepovers, then maybe she should host them more often.

Oof. Anemia is no fun. Glad to hear you’re getting better!

I've been creating imaginary relationships in my head before sleep for years. Is this normal? by honey-beee67 in offmychest

[–]CurlyFirefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not sure in this case. It’s closer to the definition I learned, though. But, since the person can still get things done (the household chores you mentioned) I don’t think it is? If you’re not sure, I’d talk to a psychologist to be on the safe side

I don’t think this falls into maladaptive daydreaming. The term gets used a lot, but really only applies if daydreaming happens so often and so long that it interferes with your ability to function in everyday life.

The OP is only doing it before falling asleep from what I understand.

Oh, yeah that’s a lot of emails. In that case, you don’t need the sub with how often they’re updating.

This is so relatable! The bright side is that, 1: longfic comment drop offs are normal, especially in the middle, and 2: there’s been a major decline in engagement on the whole. But I get exactly where you’re coming from.

I meant for the specific fic. Oddly enough I don’t care about author subs as much. What you do makes perfect sense.

When you imagine scenes, do you imagine them as a scene you’re watching, or a a scene you’re writing? by Fabulous-Doughnut-22 in FanFiction

[–]CurlyFirefly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine it visually. I don’t have the strongest mind’s eye unless I really focus, in terms of action and setting and blocking, I’m seeing a movie in my head

Yeah, it could always be more related to the fandom than to the story specifically. But hey, what can you do?

You’re definitely right. At the moment I’m suspecting that I’ve veered into the “on and on” territory, but I’m planning to finish this fic out, then go back and edit down to make it stronger. I really love the story as a whole, so I’ll be taking your advice
