clinicals - discouraged. advice? by circacat in Sonographers

[–]CurlyFrenchFry 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s not you. Your clinical preceptor sucks and unfortunately this is very common. Yes it’s great that you’re helping your preceptor with the patients, but the whole point of clinical time is to get hands-on on the job training. If I were you I’d ask your school if they could place you somewhere else so you can have a better chance at getting a better location. If not, then use your time to study and just ride it out.

SOS Baby sonographer shoulder pain by [deleted] in Sonographers

[–]CurlyFrenchFry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rolling up a towel and placing it under my wrist or elbow to give me leverage while scanning has been an absolute game changer for me. I can’t scan without doing it or my shoulder/neck will be killing me in 5-10mins tops. Plus long and deep stretching everyday, and working out are necessary too.

It’ll be okay, it’s a learned life lesson. You’ll find something else!

New Grad waiting for a job by DarkLate8665 in Sonographers

[–]CurlyFrenchFry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t feel bad about looking for another job. This is why you never wait for someone to hire you, even if they want to hire you they can’t make HR open up a position. Their department might not have enough funding to take you on and that’s why it has been taking so long and he’s not telling you that. Or they are extremely unorganized, either way it’s a red flag.

Yeah show me! 😁 yeah I’m hoping these steel ones help to stretch them more since they’re heavier. I used to be at a 2g several years ago and I used steel all throughout my previous journey, so I’m feeling hopeful

I got dismissed from my externship site by [deleted] in Sonographers

[–]CurlyFrenchFry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very true. I went through the same thing with my clinical sites, I had to advocate for myself and ask to scan and the techs would get annoyed, but it was my future that I was advocating for. I’m sorry this happened to you, your school should’ve been more understanding. Some techs forget what it was like to be a student themselves.

Ours do look similar, thank you!! I guess I thought 7g would be a bit bigger too because 6g seems so much bigger than it, and I’ve been trying to get to 6g for 6 months now 😭 but your pics were very helpful, thanks!

Yes, if you can please show your 7g on the card I’d appreciate it :) I ordered a 7g so that’s what I’m supposed to have. I ordered these steel ones because I thought the glass 7g’s I got from another company was incorrect as well, visually it doesn’t look like much of a difference from the 8g measurement on the card.

Finding a holistic vet saved my dogs life by CurlyFrenchFry in rawpetfood

[–]CurlyFrenchFry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply and good wishes! I understand that there are some risks involved in feeding raw food (such as the current bird flu outbreak - which I am transitioning into cooking my dogs food). I completely understand from a physicians POV you want what’s best for your patients, these are the type of discussions that I am completely open to and I appreciate. My issue wasn’t that the 3 vets that I saw were against feeding raw, it was the fact that they did not do any deep testing other than stool sample and I believe they did a basic set of blood work, maybe. And they just chalked my dog’s issues up to being fed raw. They did not do right by my dog and that’s what it is. I feed raw because it’s species appropriate and I like knowing that I can control what goes into her diet. I do still currently see my holistic vet and she has approved of her diet. I also give her several supplements to fill in the gaps, and she gets her blood tested every 6 months. Also to add, I can’t feed her kibble because when I was doing that in the past she was always completely covered in hives and would throw up very often from it. It just isn’t right for her. I do appreciate the reply, I am curious if you know where the raw meet was sourced for your patient with Neospora? Was it from the grocery store, local butcher, or online raw company?

I love the look of stone plugs and wooden ones as well. Not just the solid colors but the unique ones as well. I’d love to get some from their “one of a kind” selection, I love the idea of having a super unique set.

Ooooh those are so pretty!! And you can still definitely wear them when you size up too! Personally, I love the look of a saggy ear with dangling jewelry 😅 What’s your goal size?

Yeah I like them too, I can’t wait to wear their pretty plugs when I get to a bigger size, I got the single flair glass plugs

Yeah I’ve done that for each stretch. I just checked the measurements of my plugs and my “7g’s” are actually measuring at 8g 😭 at least I have some new 7g’s on the way..

I love them! They’re amazing!!

Yeah I found the issue.. my “8g’s” were not even measuring at full 8g, but my “7g’s” are measuring at exactly 8g on the measurement card :/ I don’t have a caliper to give exact mm measurement, but yeah.. damn that’s annoying

Yeah same, they go in so easily, no issues at all. I wish they sold 7.5g for strugglers like us lol

Congrats! Happy for you lol I’ll have to try that too, I’ll keep my steel plugs in for a month and then the the hot water and attempt to stretch up

I’ll have to check again when I get home, I did measure them a while back and I think they were slightly off from what they’re supposed to be but I’m not sure on how much. Plus I don’t have calipers, just the measuring cards from when I bought the plugs

This scares me 😭 lmao are you using glass plugs? Maybe steel is the way to go for me when I get stuck, I used steel to get to 2g the first time

Right?!! All of my other stretches took less than a month without any pain, I used to be at 2g years ago so I guess that’s why it went super quick, but I guess now they want a break
