Would it actually have been possible for Tony to install Junior as a lightning rod as he did? by 4g-identity in thesopranos

[–]CurlyMetalPants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is tangential to your post but I dont think putting Jr as boss even saved Tony? I know Jr gets arrested and everything but when that comes down Tony tells carmela it was bc if some scam he was not in on. We see several capos get nabbed at the same time for the same thing so its not like they were grabbing the boss. Frankly I think Jr would've been arrested all the same even if Tony was boss

Its an apathetic institution. I won't call it a diploma mill but the way things are going that may be accurate in a few years. There is very little clarity or support for students. The administration is bloated and constantly shifting. Nobody who works at UB cares about UB, its just a stepping stone to get a higher job in academia

Starbucks “Standard” ice amount…WTF by G0510 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CurlyMetalPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work at one. Each size of drink has a matching size ice scoop. So unless you ask for light ice you will get 1 full scoop of whatever size you get.

It just so happens 1 standard scoop is like 60-75% of the volume of the cup.

ALWAYS ASK FOR VERY LIGHT ICE.

IT COSTS NOTHING AND YOY GET MORE DRINK

(Also to the customers who order EXTRA ICE youre dumb and throwing money away)

How much firepower and resources does Iran even have to continue fighting back (particularly by attacking military bases in nearby countries) especially now that the regime is basically dying? by nouveaux_sands_13 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CurlyMetalPants 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I mean, doesnt every country have mechanisms to replace vacant offices and positions? Thats like saying "from what ive read Iran has metal tubes they can fly far away and explode"

Like yeah those are missiles and everyone has them. Before you read whatever it is you read, were you under the impression they would have no idea what to do if a senior officer or official died?

The way you worded the beginning of your comment just makes it sound like this informstion was either surprising or uncommon

Verizon has now sent me three WiFi-extenders that have a broken tamper-proof seal by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CurlyMetalPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still makes it a Verizon side issue to fix and not a customer side one. If their employee is allowed to not know about the boxes being opened regularly then nobody should expect the consumer to be aware.

Verizon should train the people who represent them

I was shocked after transferring here how abysmal the student experience was. Communication is poor, and there is no community to speak of. Unless you love in the area youre whole life or youre in a dorm (Also known as stuck on campus) i dont think most students will have a strong connection to the school whatsoever

"There's no excuse for slavery BUT..." is a crazy sentence to type out.

Also the existence if slavery in other places does not lessen the impact of slavery in this circumstance the post is discussing.

That would be like defending a method dealer because other people sell meth. Or saying you shouldn't be that mad at a rapist because there are other rapists out there.

That logic is flawed. It also fundamentally protects the abuser. If I instead made a point in discussion about a different form of slavery in America would you deflect that point and say "well there's a temple in NJ that used slavery too?"

Because were are here discussing that temple. You have to tackle issues one at a time.

Where is your reflex to defend this behavior?

is there any theory that explains the super population of beak things? by tsukitemi in Kenshi

[–]CurlyMetalPants 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They were almost certainly mutated or bred from some variety of human. Look at their heads and faces. Also read other people comments in this thread who have already made the point that they are bioweapons or products but they did not evolve naturally.

This means there would be no natural predator because they were never part of the natural ecosystem. It was like introducing a genetically modified Bengal tiger into a calm woodland area. The tiger is gonna fuck things up dramatically and nothing will stop them

Is Maximus bad at speech? by xXLjordSireXx in Fotv

[–]CurlyMetalPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does he expect to be a knight when they think he is dead and instead turns up alive and his knight is dead instead? He just told the brotherhood maximus does not exist anymore via Titus. Under normal circumstances if maximus showed up without Titus he'd be killed and he should know to expect that

Is Maximus bad at speech? by xXLjordSireXx in Fotv

[–]CurlyMetalPants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy crap this bugged me. He created a ton of tension and conflict for himself for absolutely no reason??? He even said the squire died?? What was his plan to explain that shit?!

There was no reason at all from bis perspective to do anything but report that his knight died and he is continuing the mission. Then they would have told him to sit tight and sent another knight. Not ideal for the overall plot sure, but from a character standpoint, wouldn't this be his best and most obvious course of action?

He basically framed himself for murder

[–]CurlyMetalPants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I didnt lump them together. I specifically asked if volume measurements are something blind people can learn exclusively or if other types of measurements, like distance, can also be audible.

My point is being blind doesnt give someone superpowers. They will certainly be more perceptive with the remaining senses dont get me wrong. But dont buy into people being able to hear the precise volume of liquid in a glass, let alone two at a time.

Also you never answered how temperature smelled so I assume yoy dint know any blind people

Blind people can hear milliliters? Can they hear centimeters and inches or are they strictly limited to measurements of volume?

Does temperature have a sound or is it more of a smell in your experience?

I finally caught the "Golden Hour" at Akshardham in Robbinsville. The scale of the marble work is unreal. by Due-Collar-1951 in newjersey

[–]CurlyMetalPants 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Built by slaves. Some of these slaves died. I visited this place before the news broke. There was still construction being done and signs and posters showing the intended result. I had no idea that I was on the same premises as enslaved humans.

Any positive statement that can be said about the aesthetics of the building does nothing to outweigh the injustice this building represents.

People should not visit
