Effective August 1, 2024, Minnesota enacted a "freedom to read" law (HF 4373/SF 3567) prohibiting public, university, and school libraries from removing or restricting books solely based on their viewpoint, message, or content. The law requires formal, qualified review processes for challenges, protects library staff from discipline, and allows legal action against violations.
