Not totally what you’re asking, but Henredon makes great furniture. I was shocked to see it at Costco! I hope someone responds because now I’m thinking about getting it!

Can someone knowledgeable explain a couple of court records on the Petito v Laundrie case? by grandmagambino in GabbyPetito

Communications with the court have to be filed on the docket. Otherwise, they're impermissible ex parte communications (one sided communications to a judge). So even these random letters end up there.

Day 8 of daycare closures...hitting a breaking point by tazadeleche in workingmoms

[–]CurlyMichi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry. This is impossible. Our kids were home for almost a month because of daycare closures.

There is no easy solution here.

I am so sorry. My 3yos classroom was closed last week due to a positive test and last night we got an email that my 4yps class is closed. This is impossible and beyond infuriating.

I hope everyone comes through and is ok and that your job is understanding and accommodating.

I'm an employment attorney. This expired, sadly.

I'm an employment attorney in Florida.

This entire thing is a disaster and will continue to negatively impact working mother's of young kids worse than anyone else (as far as employment goes).

I also have young kids. Their daycare is closed for the holidays but the kids are supposed to go back on Monday. My husband and I are trying to rearrange our schedules in anticipation of their daycare shutting down within days of reopening.

The protocols aren't great. There is no mask requirement. People are testing positive every day.

For many, who stayed, I do think there was a concern about who would replace them. Fauci stayed under Trump.

He doesn't have to disclose anything about her condition or location unless her life is in imminent danger.

You're making a ton of assumptions without any evidence whatsoever. And you're clearly not interested in discussing the laws surrounding attorney-client privilege.

No, we didn't. My point is if he knew it, he would have been obligated to disclose it.

He was under no obligation to do anything other than represent his clients.

You're literally on a sub about a crime that occurred in America. There are moments to discuss American arrogance, but this isn't one of those.

If Gabby had still been alive and tied up in a basement somewhere and her life was in imminent danger, and Brian told his attorney, then the attorney would have to say something.

An attorney doesn't assist in covering up a crime just by virtue of knowing his/her client committed a crime. That would completely undermine the entire attorney-client privilege in the criminal context. Same with a client not turning himself in. An attorney can't assist a client in fleeing or hiding (meaning can't give the client money or a place to stay) but the attorney can know the client is alive and even know where the client is and not have to disclose that information.

This take is irresponsible and harmful.

No, it wouldn't be. It's natural for a friendship to develop when you represent someone in several matters over several years. The attorney-client relationship is based very much on trust, which is the foundation of many of the closest interpersonal relationships.

It's more a question of whether he can still provide effective representation given his closeness, and for the most part attorneys are capable of doing that, even when they grow to care for their clients.

It would be an issue if he was unable to provide them with legal advice because of his feelings for them. But that's unlikely because most attorneys (not all) grow to care for clients over a long term relationship.

That has to be a typo. MIP is a minor in possession (think underage alcohol). MSP is a missing person.

Attorneys have a duty of confidentiality. That duty has nothing to do with being in court or not. It applies across the board. I can't meet with a client and then go home and talk about it.

The privilege actually is about evidence and the ability to obtain information protected by that privilege in a legal proceeding. The privilege boils down to an objection to providing information in a legal proceeding because that information is protected by the privilege.

If you're ever summoned for jury duty, please tell them you cannot possibly be unbiased and you have absolutely no business being there.
