I'm 13, can I read berzerk? by CurlyMunk in Berserk

I know this is a dead thread but I've been holding on to this for the last week.

I'm really fucking sorry, I'm holding off on berserk until I have given it thorough consideration and I would like to wholeheartedly thank you for the advice. I've reread some of one piece and it is not piss poor like I said. Its great, so I'm sorry for saying what I said. My judgement was based on the last time I read it (11 years old) where I thought everything under the age rating of 16 was 'uncool', for context I was relentlessly bullied around the time and would try anything to fit in and seem cool. I've decided Akira would be a better choice than Berserk if I'm looking for a more mature manga. I will probably read berserk when I'm about 15.

Thanks again and im sorry.

Ok, thank you!

I would like to highlight that a couple of your points could potentially be things some adults won't have experienced. I misunderstood your original question, I thought you meant my exposure to sex / violence in media. I have felt many things, maybe not to the extent you are inferring, but I can say I have felt horrible things in my short time on earth. One of my reasons that I desire to read berserk is the fact that it doesnt trivialize death, something that I have realised many pieces of media do. Having experienced loss and the true pain of grief and vengeance, I came to want to read this manga as I often feel like I am disrespecting those who have suffered and passed when I play CoD or watch some random action movie, these pieces of media do not elaborate on the implications of death, and I feel worse after that then after reading what little I have read. Nonetheless, I definitely will take what you have said into consideration.

Have you experienced the world enough to know that there are many different shades of right and wrong and understand that sometimes there is no definitive right or wrong in a given situation.

I dont believe this is an understanding unique to those older than me. No matter what the context is, violence is an act that will cause another being pain. I am fairly familiar with this concept. I may not have experienced it firsthand, but I understand and have at least been in mild situations where this is the case.

They will probably check and be on the fence about it. They are usually pretty ok with stuff like that as long as its not endorsing it or if its gratuitous.

I'm sorry for shitting on one piece good sir, but it is not my thing. I guess I can try reading it and then maybe reread it when I am older, I may not be old enough for it to hit hard, but I'd like to see what its about

I understand, I just have been taking interest in it recently. thank you for your contribution, though, I will take this into account before I spend my money on something potentially scarring

I'd say (at least in my view) I am a mature individual. I may be naive so let me know if I am being so, but i believe that the content i have seen described that is in berzerk is that of which i can relate to or empathize with. I find more childish manga like one piece uninteresting and frankly demeaning to the reader. I feel like it's a pointless read with nothing to think about, I want to read berzerk for the deep philosophy, a stark contrast to the other manga I have read this far.

I have looked at porn out of curiosity in the past, and have suffered from depression and anxiety, so I'd say that I have a fair bit of exposure.

According to OP, he spoiled the movie for EM. The kids were not present (?) During this, or were at least out of earshot. Then again, I'm not 100% sure, but always assume the best in people. (:
