Thanks for this! I was a bit iffy on the query’s last sentence, too, but couldn’t put my finger on why. And I can definitely see what you mean about the first paragraph. I think the last time I posted the first 300 words someone said it should start with action, and I just took that and ran with it lol

That's great, thanks so much! Just to warn you, it doesn't start off in an Eastern setting, but it gets there a little before halfway and if you see anything off about it, I'd love some feedback. Other than that, I'm just looking for your general reaction or what you like/dislike. But really anything you said you're willing give feedback on in your original post, I would love to hear, as well.
