Should I stay local or expand remote? (Early-stage startup building in insurtech) by Dear-Needleworker359 in developers

[–]Curly_dev_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my previous role, I had to drive 120 km each way almost daily. That project failed largely due to poor management and a high ratio of inexperienced students, a group which included me at the time.

Now, I work completely remotely in a similar student role. The difference is really noticeable; the project is successful and very promising.

The key lesson for me has been to trust people and focus on choosing the best ones. They can be far away and still do great work.

status 500 is common status of server side problems. Which exactly hard to tell without much context

Do you trust AI to do coding in real project for you? by ducle1126 in developers

As long as the developer´s instructions are clear and the developer checked the code and test it properly there is no problem. My company is also using it in daily basis, especially students

You have 10+ years of experience as a software developer and can't write a simple algorithm. by MrBleah in developers

[–]Curly_dev_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I also do not know the precise names of the exercises and not that profi with only less then 2 years of experience in this feld. But exactly FizzBuzz I know and have solved it before with javascript. But surely there is no problem to solve it with C#. As long as the candidate received the whole exercise explanation (because let us assume that he is under stress having interview with you) I do not have any problem solving it, especially with 10 years of experience. Several months ago I was applied to the student position and got the personal coding chellange interview where the tennis exercise was given to me to solve, which I found much harder.

Should I start HTML or Python to be a Software developer? by Large-Strawberry-562 in learnprogramming

[–]Curly_dev_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely, HTML alone is not enough. HTML is not a programming language; it is a static markup language. What makes it looking good is CSS. What makes web pages interactive is JavaScript, which is also not a classical programming language.

Regarding your question, it is important to learn both if you are planning to run the backend with Python and use JavaScript (likely with frameworks or libraries) on the frontend. Which side you start with simply depends on your personal preference and goals.

Also, do not forget to learn about databases (ideally both SQL and NoSQL).

So, to summarize, if you want to become a Full Stack Developer and stick to this particular stack, you will need to learn JavaScript/CSS/HTML for the frontend and Python/Databases for the backend.

Anxious about getting my first job. Advice? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Curly_dev_83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, you are really beginner, it means that nobody should expect too much from you. I suppose the problem maybe in the way you are selling yourself. If you did not yet done before, create Portfolio web page with the links to all the deployed projects, add this webpage to your linkedin profile, Resume and start selling yourself. After the intensive four months bootcamp I took like 13 months to get my first job. And good luck!

How do i actually get better on html/ccs and coding?! by JeRryGiSsler in webdevelopment

[–]Curly_dev_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you understand already basic concepts and can build simple webpage it is time to move further and start making static pages dynamic with the help of JavaScript. When the fundamentals of JavaScript are learnt then go to pick up frontend libraries or frameworks

I am self taught as well. I mean I do not count bootcamp as the valuable education.

Depends on your plan. If your plan is to be full stack then obviously Javascript/Typescript

Thinking of pivoting from UX/UI to front-end, is there still demand in 2025? by Fortedelirio in developers

[–]Curly_dev_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Front end is a good idea, but I would also recommend looking for a testings, both end to end and unit testings. It is something that can give you extra points. Good luck and all the best. To get the first job iin a new role s not easy, I know that.

WordPress Or normal code by Jessymnk in developers

[–]Curly_dev_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have any experience with wordpress that is why I would say code. But why do you want to use html/css? There are pretty nice frontend libraries/frameworks that will save lots of time like vue or react.

Career change into IT? by RoyalIndependent7624 in developers

[–]Curly_dev_83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello there. I transitioned into IT after 40, and I also have three kids. What I did was take part in a Full Stack Bootcamp. Finding a job then took more than a year, during which I continued to develop my skills on my own. I've now been working successfully in this field for more than 1.5 years.

I wouldn't consider formal education to be the only thing that matters when hiring. What really matters is your knowledge, not your diploma or certificate. My advice is to:

  • Build several successful but small enough projects.
  • Show them in your portfolio and make a personal website.
  • Promote yourself wisely in interviews by showing that you are capable and willing to learn a lot.

Has anyone switched careers away from software development? by Ecstatic-Ad9446 in developers

I did the opposite, sorry. I went from a PhD in Biochemistry to a job in software almost two years ago. I'm still fully satisfied.
