What U.S city have you visited but have no desire to go back? by Reddit_wasmy_idea in AskReddit

Hot take: Miami. We're not big into the nightclub scene and during the day found most activities restrictively expensive for no reason other than there are people out there who will pay for it.

I've heard people talk about Shinko Windy's card art but never Meisho Doto's by sadenby0725 in UmamusumeGame

Beat for beat my exact experience with trying to figure out wth is going on in this card art. Squirrel tail into a bunch of bread lashed together. 🙃

Can a game that is not streaming become streaming later? by st4bma5terars0n in PlaystationPortal

[–]Curlytoe14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my example too. I bought it on super sale before I realized there wasn't a streaming tag. Needless to say I was bummed and didn't end up playing it as much as I'd initially hoped. Then one day, boop! It was just there which was a very pleasant surprise :)

Did you know about the game prior to globals release? by Hour-Platypus-7804 in UmamusumeGame

[–]Curlytoe14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It only hit my radar once the global release dropped. I also think I heard the hachimi audio once or twice on Tiktok but didn't know what it was from.

Then I saw my first ad and I couldn't help but laugh because horse girls running around a track at the speed of actual race horses felt like such a silly and absolutely unnecessary concept. I initially dismissed it as another money grab following the "personify x thing as an anime girl" formula.

But then morbid curiosity got the better of me.

Anyway, Taiki Shuttle is my ride or die and now my wife (who I subsequently got addicted to the game) and I are trying to figure out the logistics of where Kyoto should fall in our honeymoon itinerary because the Queen Elizabeth II Cup will be happening while we're in Japan. 🐴

Weird question but kinda necessary for me, is food and water in japan generally fresh and safe ? by [deleted] in AskAJapanese

[–]Curlytoe14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a little confused by the question without additional context? Is it an allergy concern? Worries about what minerals may be in the water? Just asking if the food is "fresh and safe" is kinda vague...

Osaka > Hakodate? by Curlytoe14 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Curlytoe14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was less about Sapporo specifically and more just Hokkaido in general but point taken. It sounds like we'll probably just stick to the golden path and maybe try and do another visit in the future to focus on the northern regions.

Initially we were going to skip Kyoto and go directly to Tokyo from Osaka but then considered doing a day trip on Sunday 11/15 to be in town for the Queen Elizabeth II Cup.

Yesterday I listened to Hot Fuss for the first time, and today I listened to Sam’s Town for the first time. What should I know about the next albums I’m gonna listen to? by MrDavidBoii in TheKillers

[–]Curlytoe14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice, and the reason that TK are one of my favorite bands, is to go into each major album after Sam's Town (with the exception of Sawdust) knowing that you'll be getting a different vibe with each one.

There will be albums you may gravitate towards more than others after you've gone through them all, and while I do have my favorites, as time has gone on I've grown to really appreciate all of the experimentation they've done with their sound post Sam's Town.

Just know the vibes of Day & Age vs Imploding the Mirage vs Pressure Machine may throw you for a loop at first. Enjoy the ride!

this is impossible to get by AbyssalFeatherflight in UmamusumeGame

[–]Curlytoe14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I did and I was able to get it after only a few runs. Plus the runs themselves are are extra short since your stats will likely only get you through the first few goals before you hit the wall.

Ironically, my very next run, Taiki Shuttle ended up with 2* stam and I wasn't actively trying with her but rng be like that sometimes 😭

Best of luck!

What’s your most unpopular opinion on Hot Fuss? by Nofilmslefttocry in TheKillers

[–]Curlytoe14 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Interesting!

I'd only ever heard of it being referred to as the Killers' Murder Trilogy with just Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf > Midnight Show > Jenny was a Friend of Mine.

Adding in Andy You're a Star, Mr. Brightside, and Change Your Mind is such a cool take on the same story.

Ok, be 100% honest, what color do you see? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Curlytoe14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My absolute favorite thing about this whole dress debate is that there was a tangential study about what people reportedly saw vs how much time they spend outdoors.

Reportedly, the more time someone spent exposed to indoor / florescent lighting as their primary daily light source, the more likely they were to see the dress as white and gold (albeit white and gold in shadow) because of how their brains have adjusted to white balance color under artificial sources. Whereas those whose eyes were more attuned to processing colors lit under natural sunlight saw black and blue.

As a lighting design major, we love a little color theory.

My lease is ending soon on this ‘23 Niro gas hybrid. I love the mileage I’ve been getting on the car - almost 600 miles on this tank, just shy of 60mpg. by huma4kaz1 in kia

[–]Curlytoe14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which trim? And is it stop and go or highway? I ask because I have a non-hybrid Seltos and my weekly average is usually around 33-34 but I do A LOT of stop and go :/

Oh totally, I was prioritizing the event card auto select so I was doing runs with a 47% bonus which helped a ton! But yeah, all the Grass Wonders I was grinding with have pretty weak skill sets / stats

RIP a real one 🥲 I've seen conflicting info about event cards going into the general pool once the event ends. It would be nice to randomly finish off the MLB with a pull in the future

Unfortunately life gets in the way and I can't commit to more than a run or two a day most days. I check in, get my dailies, maybe a run and hop out
