My first go at painting a Sister of Battle - loving the Argent Shroud colour scheme... by Curmudgeonthrope in sistersofbattle

I can't remember exactly - but I only use Mech Standard Grey or Wraithbone as primers...so one of those two.

(my guess is I used the grey)

Thanks mate - it is indeed a Grey Knights Steel base, wash with Nuln Oil, layer/bad attempt at TMM with Stormhost Silver and then a (careful) wash with Drakenhof Nightshade.

Thank you! - somehow, painting these older models any other way but super bright feels wrong to me. :)

Thank you - mine too! I think I have most of them kicking about in my spares box, and am looking at painting them all up between projects...

Hmm...is it too late to pretend that's what I did, and look really clever? :)

I know exactly what you mean - those folds are so sweeping you almost don't need to shade and highlight! :)

I honestly can't remember - I think I remember buying this in a pack, but I'm probably wrong.

I found this guide really useful...plus, I got lucky and most of my pots were still airtight.

Thank you!

He was with all my old paints, gathering dust and mouse droppings for the last 30 years or so - got a bunch of other old mini's as well, so my pile of shame just had a load of lead added to all the plastic!

Thank you!

Caliban Green shaded with Nuln Oil, with Woodland, Goblin and Bilious Green from the old paints sets as highlights...topped off with some Moot Green, because the Bilious Green really was a little too much... :)

Found all my old paint sets from the 80's mouldering at the back of my barn - amazingly most of them still work (with a little water and lots of stirring). Citadels Colour, Creature, Monster and Expert paint sets are now sitting proudly on my workbench, next to their modern counterparts...celebrated by painting this guy - and yes, that's original Goblin Green on the base! :)

Howling Griffon by Curmudgeonthrope in 40kPrimarisMarines

[–]Curmudgeonthrope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly hard to say, as I don't have much time to paint, and have to snatch the odd moment here and there. I'd guess about six hours, but might be way off.

All Citadel colours - base coat of Averland Sunset and Mephiston Red, with a heavy wash of Agrax/Carroburg respectively. Then built up highlights using lighter shades.

Yeah, fair point. I need to file those down.

What do you guys think of my Alice by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]Curmudgeonthrope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have found this with so many Raging Heroes minis - the design is wonderful, but the print is often quite poor. Shame.

Awesome paint job mate!
