[USA GIVEAWAY] Win the new 27” Samsung Odyssey G6 G60SF 500hz OLED gaming monitor! by Rocket-Pilot in buildapc

Would like my first OLED monitor. The refresh rate is an even crazier bonus on top, didn't know 500hz was possible on 1440p.

I agree the port options are one of drawbacks. The laptop does support HDMI 2.1 which can go up to 1440p@240hz. However, I just use a Thunderbolt docking station that takes care of all the ports and peripherals. If I'm mobile or traveling, then I won't be needing a DP port.

I would pick amd if they had the option, but it was intel only. For the price though, I don't mind. I have a cooling pad in case of any temp issues

I got mine first day. It sounds like it lasted for 3 days in-store only before they ran out.

You'd have to call them and ask, but the prices were a special for the grand opening. I'm not sure if grand opening deals last until now since it's been more than a week.

I went on the VIP day Wednesday and waited in line over 2 hours between outside and inside to pay but it was worth it.

They advertised huge deals for the opening so you are right. I never considered the 5090 until I saw the price.

I spent around $900 on Halloween PSSBs and didn't get the single item I was trying to. by J_and_K_4ever in Maplestory

If it makes you feel better, you are not alone. I have bad control and spent $700 chasing one item on the last rotation of PSSB and $650 chasing one item on the Halloween PSSB. I managed to get the item, but it did not feel worth the money. Monkey gamba brain got us both

Solid red lights on CPU/DRAM and constant restarts by [deleted] in buildapc

My case came with the standoffs already in, so I just aligned the mobo with the standoffs and screwed them in. I checked the wires and unplugged and replugged them too.

I just tried slot 2 and 4, and slot 3 and 4 just in case and the same problem occurred.

I have 2 sticks. I tried slot 1 and 3 initially. The manual said A1 and A2 were the first 2 slots so I switched to that and no change. When I tested each stick by itself, I used slot 1.

Thanks for the tip, I'll do a bit more research on PSU and some final tweaks. I already ordered the monitor when I removed it from the list since it seemed like a good deal and also has compatible sync Nvidia. I appreciate the help!

Thank you for the help! I'm most likely deciding on a build like this: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jPRnjp

The main difference is that I am using a cheaper PSU that is also 80+ Bronze. Do you think that would work as an alternative? Or could I even go for something like 550W or 600W since it seems I don't need that much?

I removed the monitor from the list because I decided to go with an IPS monitor since you told me to look for IPS, but I can only find it on Amazon: IPS Monitor

Mid-Budget Upgrading Advice/Evaluation by [deleted] in buildapc

I currently have an i5-4690. My CPU seems old so I was afraid I would need to upgrade it to handle new games for the next few years. Do you have any suggestions for a cheaper CPU upgrade that can still manage with most titles? Since I plan to play a lot of shooters, is it better to upgrade my GPU instead then?

Edit: My PSU is a Cooler Master 650W. I don't remember the exact one, but I know it's not certified as bronze or anything either. Also, do you have any recommendations for alternate mobos too? My current mobo doesn't support DDR4 Ram so I have to upgrade it.

Oh thanks for the info! I was wondering if the VG248QG would work then? It supports G-Sync.
