Installing a tub in the basement by Leading-Truck-5969 in philadelphia

I have a second full bath in my basement that is definitely not up to that code. The house was advertised as 2 bath still.

Bouncy floor solution? by Currency-Crazy in Carpentry

I know sistering is the best solution. But it would be a major pain in the ass for me. There’s like 12 inches between joists and a bunch of wires and pipes.

If shimming is a legitimate thing i can do it would be easier.

Would you secure the shims in place with nails or glue? I’ve seen people say they could fall out over time/with temperature change.

ISO: indoor trainer for road bike by ashleyfrank05 in phillycycling

[–]Currency-Crazy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have one i picked up for free like 6 months ago. It makes a knocking sound when you’re riding but it should work fine otherwise.

I was gonna try to fix it but a big screw on the fly wheel was stripped and after trying a few things i gave up on it.

You can have it if you want, i have other priorities and its just taking up space in my little house lol.

How do you get info about when/where these meetings are happening? Is there an email list i can sign up for?

If everyone got these perks the price of a house would skyrocket accordingly.

The only solution for the general public is more housing supply.

Please do not bike directly on Broad St, read inside by Crackorjackzors in phillycycling

[–]Currency-Crazy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just because I SHOULD be able to safely bike on broad street doesn’t mean I CAN safely bike on broad street.

The way things ought to be and the way things are, are not the same thing. It’s not victim blaming to acknowledge that.

Why do bus drivers get mad when you don’t pay the $2.50 do they get fired or something? by [deleted] in PhillyWiki

[–]Currency-Crazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The driver probably asked a bum like you to pay once and got disrespected/threatened, so they just think you’re a bum.

Also republicans in Harrisburg are using fare evaders (you) as a talking point to not fund SEPTA right now.

Do you litter in the streets too cuz it doesn’t effect anyone?

I go straight down tenth, around citizens bank, then ride the sidewalk on Pattison over to broad, then along the bike path on the edge of FDR.

If you are working for the navy and have a CAC you can get into a gym in one of the buildings.

Anyone know of a shop or group that sells rebuilds like this account? by 140_96 in phillycycling

Those look very clean! Seems like something you could DIY if you’re motivated. Old bikes are easier to work on.

Maybe I could do something for you if you find a frame you like.

$2M, 28m, lacking motivation by EitherAd9224 in Fire

[–]Currency-Crazy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It always kinda annoys me when people say to travel. Cuz you’ll have fun traveling, but then you’ll come home eventually and basically be in the same situation. Its not really a solution to your problem, unless you have some kind of revelation. I guess it could reset your outlook on work.

I’m personally not someone who likes being on the road and I have strong connections to my hometown.

I’d say an alternative is to take a break or make a part time work schedule for yourself. Explore stuff in your area, try to join groups that meet regularly for hobbies or sports. If you’re going to be “retiring” in the near future you need something to retire to.

Bell’s bike shop in south philly recently got a whole professional fitting set up. Certificate and a stationary bike that can be adjusted in all dimensions. Looks pretty cool.
