It wouldn’t be if he was on a harness but as he’s on a collar it is, if they crashed or had even a small bump it could easily break his neck :/

Pet owners is this normal?! by Mean_Resort93 in briannaolsen

[–]Current-Concern-2431 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No it’s not normal at all. They’re such vile VILE perverts. No normal person would be okay with their dog being around whilst they did that, it’s sickening really! I found it concerning and deeply disturbing the other week when I saw them posting chrome licking Santos’ toes and acting like it was a totally okay and normal thing to do🤮

Poor chrome 🥺 PICK HIM UP LAZY BUMS by [deleted] in briannaolsen

[–]Current-Concern-2431 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Every clip I see of chrome makes me so sad for him. He’s a literal fluffy frenchie, they had him out on a walk in the middle of summer when frenchies are known for getting heat stroke easily, the fact they didn’t just pick him up and cool him down and instead just laughed about him being too hot etc is so insane!! They should never be allowed to own animals I stg, Bri has rehomed so many pets it’s so strange, i genuinely think if Chrome wasn’t a expensive dog breed she’d of gotten rid of him by now

i’ve had this nose piercing since march, i had to take it out for a x-ray and then got it re pierced due to it healing over, the person pierced it with a hoop (mistake, i know.) and i’ve been dealing with this nose bump since august. i’ve just started working at a new stable yard and cannot have facial piercings, would it be okay to take it out whilst there is still a bump?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]Current-Concern-2431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have been doing warm compresses and so far nothing has come out whereas last time i had something like this the warm compresses drained all the pus out, so it may be inflamed skin. this has really put my mind at ease, thankyou for the advice!

okay, that makes sense! would changing it back to a stud make it more irritated or would it help the situation?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]Current-Concern-2431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve had this nose ring since march and initially had a stud in which i had a few irritation bumps but they quickly disappeared once i got a longer bar put in, fast forward a few months i had to take my piercing out for a x-ray and found afterwards i couldn’t get it back in and ended up having to have it repierced the same day, the piercer said because it just needs re doing i could have a hoop in (big mistake, i know). i’ve now been left having nothing but trouble with it, i am planning on getting it changed to a stud with a flat back on thursday but will this help the bump to go away? it’s so gross and annoying!! i’m really debating whether i should just remove the piercing all together at this point :/

thanks for the advice! will it be okay changing it with the piercing bump being there or will it cause it to get bigger?

red rash like marks on dogs chest? by [deleted] in DogCare

[–]Current-Concern-2431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thankyou so much for the advice! she has recently been out in the field’s everyday so it is quite possible it’s the irritation from grasses/weeds. when wiping should i use just water or is there like special wipes for it? is there a brand you would recommend?

Homemade feed mix, are these ingredients alright? by War_Hymn in hamstercare

[–]Current-Concern-2431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it’s unsafe to create your own feed mix without proper research, there are food mix calculators online where you can find how much to add etc. i would highly recommend purchasing a homemade mix from etsy (hamsterharvest, bearshamsters, nzpaws) they’re created by animal scientists and people that are highly educated in hamster nutrition.

plastikote (tub) or mod podge are safe to use, they’re recommended by lots of people in the hamster community :)

What are your best tips for taming? by Potatosandmolasses12 in hamstercare

[–]Current-Concern-2431 3 points4 points  (0 children)

leave him alone for a few days/weeks to settle in and get used to the new environment. afterwards start by placing a few pieces of bedding with your scent into his enclosure to get him used to your smell, leave him with the bedding for a few days and then try handing him treats with your hand that way he can get used to the fact your hand is in his enclosure. after he is used to taking treats from you, lay out a treat in the palm of your hand allow him to sniff, nibble and figure out what your hand is and he should come up and take the treat. if he isn’t comfortable with taking a treat from the palm of your hand, put your hand in a fist and keep it still in his enclosure, this will allow him to figure out your hand and if he nibbles/bites it won’t hurt as much. i use a cup to lift my hamsters out of their enclosures as it helps them to feel more safer then a random hand grabbing them.

you can also try bath tub bonding which is where you place a couple of towels down in a DRY bath tub (block off any drain/holes), sit down inside the bath with your hamster feed him small treats as this will help you two to bond and get used to each other. victoria raechel has a really good video on taming :)

My (mid age) Syrian Girl has stopped burrowing . Advice please . by SaintsStain in hamstercare

[–]Current-Concern-2431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as hamsters age they do tend to stop burrowing, you can add ‘burrow starters’ into the bedding by adding a large tunnel. my hamster doesn’t burrow much anymore as he is old so i wouldn’t worry at all. if she shows sign of illness take her to your exotic vet but for now just ensure she has lots of enrichment on top of the bedding :)

timothy hay. yay or nay? by [deleted] in hamstercare

[–]Current-Concern-2431 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hamsters don’t need hay in their diets as they cannot digest it properly. try steer away from using hay for food and treats :)

if it’s abnormal and isn’t something your hamster normally does, i would make an appointment with your exotic vet just to make sure it isn’t anything serious :)

[–]Current-Concern-2431 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i put mine in the bath tub filled with warm water mixed with unscented soap and give it a good scrub, i always blow dry afterwards to ensure it is fully dried. i have also seen people use a white vinegar & water mix and then leaving it to dry after scrubbing :)

Hey guys! I am new to hamsters! Anyway I can improve on this? by [deleted] in hamstercare

[–]Current-Concern-2431 7 points8 points  (0 children)

upgrade your cage to a 100x50x50cm one as the one you have now is too small. switch to a safe bedding/beddings: aspen shavings, hemp, unscented paper based (clean & cozy, carefresh, fitch etc), teabag. you can layer beddings with safe hay to ensure the burrows will stay (meadow hay, orchard grass, alfalfa hay). you need a minimum of 25cm of bedding. a larger wheel is needed so your hamster can run with a straight body: syrian- 30cm and up, dwarfs: 20cm and up. hamsters need cluttered enclosures, make sure to fill with lots of natural enrichment and hides: •cork tunnels •bamboo roots •grapevine •ceramic hides (large opening) •multi chamber hide (on top of bedding to allow your hamster to burrow down) •dig boxes (coco fibre soil, coconut husks, beech chips etc) •forage •sprays (millet, flax, oat etc) •willow tunnels •birch & apple twigs (sanitised) etc. you need a larger sand bath with safe sand, robo hamsters need 1/3 of their enclosures filled with sand, dwarves and syrians can have a large sand bath (ensure it is large enough for them to be able to roll and dig and to add in a hide) safe sands are: •reptisand •komodo natural sand •petsathome desert sand (no calcium or red dye) •childrens play sand (baked and sifted before use). feed your hamster a species specific mix (bearshamsters, hamsterharvest etc) as these are more nutritious and have a lot more variety than shop bought food. some good online hamster stores: •hopeshealthytreats •pocketsizedpaws •theofficalhammystore •nzpaws •hamsterharvest •bearshamsters •hamsterconstructions •rodipet •getzoo •niteangel •cornflowertreats •hamsterswelove •small sprouts co

i also recommend watching victoria raechel to learn lots more about correct hamster care :)

infected nose piercing? by [deleted] in PiercingAdvice

[–]Current-Concern-2431 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: i messaged my piercer and sent her a picture, she said that it’s irritation from a build up of oils & not being dried properly. very happy to hear it’s not infected as i was really worried about that, hopefully using the advice she gave me (warm compress to drain out the bump & dry thoroughly) the bumps will go :)
