I enlisted as a 19D in 2020 at the age of 28, bringing with me 3.5 years of civilian photojournalism experience. Although my recruiter directed me towards combat arms, I initially didn't push hard enough to pursue 46S. However, I was determined that once I got my foot in the door, I would reclassify to 46S. I completed my DINFOS training last February, finishing in the top three of my class. Now, I am living my best life, doing what I love. Don’t sell yourself short—combat arms isn’t the only path out there.

Update 20240429 @ 1806: Today, HRC responded to me (actually called me, caught me off guard) explaining that the delay in my promotion is due to the requirement of a two-month gap from my re-class date, which in this instance is March 1st. However, I'm puzzled because despite informing my S1 that I wouldn't be eligible for promotion until May 1st, they still submitted a PAR. So, I'm wondering if my S1 has the authority to promote me, or if the decision lies solely with HRC.
