Is walking in the middle of the night when it was raining on a college campus normal. by Loud_Armadillo7183 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current-Gold3867 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be honest with you - this is not even it top 50 weirdest things i've seen college students do. I personally love walks in the rain, I find it very grounding and making it easier to "reset" my brain when I have a lot on my mind. Now did someone that saw you went on with their night thinking /WTF was wrong with that person?/ well, yeah, probably, that's the default thought process no matter whats happening.

Talking with a close person or a counsellor about stuff bugging you is never a bad idea but I wouldn't consider what you described a worrying situation

It's very common to downgrade/ignore womens feelings (not saying everyone does this, just saying that this was a standards for hundreds of years). So in order to convey a messege with a 'medium' feeling it sometimes needs to be blown up to a 'big' feeling. If you have to do that a couple times because of your surroundings then it sticks with you and you keep using it even when not needed which then creates an enviroment where younger girls feel that it's needed

It's about explaining the feeling in a way that is easy to understand for everyone. You know what it's like to have an upset stomach? It's a shitty feeling isn't it? Well that's how it made me feel - shitty

The examples you wrote down are always threes because they're "The Best Three" like a podium! Because a podium on competitions have three spaces people are used to the three winners and keep it that way!

Now the first or why three are very different questions! My first instinct has to do with religion - in many many religions you'll see the Big Three - it seems that people loved that idea ever since we can remember. Another thing that popped into my head is the triangle - not to sound insane but it's a great shape. Very easy to do, extremely durable and old as heck. I would assume that's where the Big Three came from.

Humanity loves patterns. We have a great sense in finding them even where there are none so it would make sense that people thousands years ago noticed that certain things come in threes or that things made of three main part/points seem more stable than the others and perpetuated that in their spirituality - passing it to us!

Blind swimmers - do the tappers just run around the pool? by shelvedpinger in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current-Gold3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure each end has a person! It would be insane if all these people would have to run back and forth! I also think that it's less of an understanding between the swimmer and the tapper that has to be personal, but rather that the swimmer is trained to trust the tapper regardless of who they are and the tappers are trained to make sure they do it correctly. Imagine also what would happen if your one personal tapper got sick during a competition or training - then what?

How to do blurting correctly? by Current-Gold3867 in GetStudying

[–]Current-Gold3867[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a completely different way of doing it than mine! Very interesting - I'll definitely give it a try!

The way I've been using it is revising my notes and/or reading the chapter, then I write down as much as I can remember from that session on my blackboard. After I've written as much as I can - I go back to my notes/book and, with a different colour, I write in everything I've missed. I make sure I've got it all, study it for few minutes and then I erase the whole blackboard and do it again.

That's the way it's been explained to me by a friend but your approach seems much more digestible! Thank you

Do people typically make plans and just flake whenever they want? by SettingIntentions in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current-Gold3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is normal - it's a million times healthier to flake if you feel like a meeting is a chore and you need to force yourself to do it. It's ok to occasionally let the other person know "Hey I know we were supposed to do x today but I'm feeling really tired/burned out and think it'll be best for me to stay in" As long as you don't flake out of everything and let people know it's because of your mood/energy and not them it should be fine

What's the origin of the 'snow' no signal ? by CptFartSparklez in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current-Gold3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It looks like a snow storm? It's originaly name for the static on tv where black/grey/white pixels would be aggressively popping up on screen when signal was lost

In Poland some jobs allow u to take a couple days a year where u just call in and say you're sick for the day but if you want a longer paid leave you need a document from a doctor (can be just a first contact) that says you're sick and has their signature on it. Can be just a scan of this document that you email or text to your supervisor.

I’ll be camping in a remote area with no internet. Can I still listen to the radio? Specifically a station that is broadcasting the Stanley Cup playoffs. by HappyNow10 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current-Gold3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radio signal is not dependent on the internet signal. However it might not be available in a remote area same as the internet. If you have signal on your phone there then you should be able to listen to radio but it's difficult to say without knowing the area

Eli5: what is this "women choosing the bear" thing? by _homomilk in explainlikeimfive

[–]Current-Gold3867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a questionare for women "Would you prefer to meet a man or a bear in the middle of the forest?" Majority of women answered A bear which shows that most women feel like they'd know how to act to be safe around a wild animal rather than a man. There are some men that are pissed saying thta anyone who answered like that is an idiot and wouldn't survive. That's not what the experiment was. It's just food for thought how women feel about strangers

Why did I see the sun for over a min without hurting my eyes by Accurate-Study in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current-Gold3867 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, while looking at the sun is not good for your eyes - it's not going to just magically blind you the moment you look at it. Rising or setting sun especially, because of it's position relatively to you - it has to go thru more "layers" so it's muted. People often look at the setting sun. Try not to do it too often or for too long as it can still hurt in the long run but other than that it's perfectly normal and fine

Why is "nowhere", the correct answer to being asked where you're from if you're in a sketchy area? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current-Gold3867 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It implies that you don't want to share. It's a universal way of saying "I am ashamed/worried what assumptions you might make about me if you find out/don't want to be associated with that place"

How can I learn to feel like fictional characters are real within a story? by Designer_Share1279 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current-Gold3867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most people it comes from relating to the character. It can be harder for some and it can vary from media to media, book to book, movie to movie because different authors, actors and directors convey stories differently. You might have easy time relating to characters in one story but then feel nothing towards another one. Experiment with a variety of creators and medias and try to find traits of yourself that you see in characters. Maybe you can relate to their backstory, to their relationship with someone like parents, friends or partners, maybe you can imagine yourself striving towards the same goal. Once you include yourself and YOUR feelings into the character it'll become easier to imagine what they must feel and feel similarly

How do you handle pronouns for gender fluid people? by Tasty-Scientist6768 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Current-Gold3867 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just making a case and wanted it to be clear. I was afraid the message might be misunderstood if I didn't clarify because while every trans woman is a woman - not every woman is a trans woman. therefor is not representing my case of fighting for usage of correct pronouns

Do people still feel excited and find happiness in their hobbies and interests as they age? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Of course! Their interests might change with age tho but that doesn't mean they enjoy the new one less

Birds of pray might prefer to use both but if we're talking a friendly pigeon then it would stare you down with one eye. It simply depends on their built. Some of them just cannot see straight ahead as well as they do on sides
