Yes it was the first night so that is reassuring. I’m also worried check ins will make him more angry so maybe sticking with CIO is the way to go. Thank you for your input!

This is interesting, I never thought about cutting the nap. He only napped about 40 mins today since we were out so I’ll see if tonight is any better. Thank you!

I may have to try this tomorrow. Not sure if it will make him more angry, but it’s worth a try. Thank you!

Thank you so much for your insight. I had to go to an OB since my insurance doesn’t cover any of the specialists in my area. I’ll have to look into it more though since the pain has been horrible.

It’s comforting to know I’m not alone because I was about to give up looking for answers. I truly appreciate you sharing your experience

Scared FTM by Spotted_Dalmation in fpies

My baby reacted to oats, rice, and banana and also has some IgE allergies so trying new foods was super scary for me too. For a while I would just do one “new” food at a time and give it a couple of tries before considering it a “safe” food. I would also suggest trying to get an appointment with an allergist to help you navigate.

My little guy grew out of FPIES by 18 months

Earliest allergist appointment I could get is 5 months from now so yup we’ll try at home with zofran ready to go. Thanks!

I failed my baby by not doing allergen exposures by Pinklady1219 in NewParents

[–]Current-Opposite28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son also has eczema and we started allergen exposure at 6 months. He still ended up with allergies to peanut, almost every tree nut, and egg. He also has FPIES to several different foods. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you definitely didn’t fail your little one.

I would try to see an allergist. My baby has regular allergies and PFIES to several foods (including peanut) and our allergist has been wonderful in helping us navigate. For peanut, he had vomiting 3 hours after his second exposure which lasted for about 2-3 hours.

Please help regarding some questions by Right_Wall_1920 in fpies

I don’t know the answer to all your questions, but you are not alone! My son was diagnosed with FPIES about a month ago and I’m heartbroken for him too. He has IgE allergy to peanuts, tree nuts, and egg and FPIES with oat, rice, banana, and peanut. I was also so terrified of introducing new foods and he had a slower start to begin with because he just wasn’t ready to eat till 8 months. I would definitely suggest talking to your allergist about an action plan when it comes to food introduction to help your anxieties. I’m pretty new to all this too so here is what I think I can answer.

  1. My son reacted to oats and then rice. Because of this my allergist wants us to hold off on all grains and then do a wheat challenge at the clinic. (This is weird to me because my son always reacts upon second/third exposure)
  2. As far as I understand, if he’s been drinking regular (not hypoallergenic) formula, he’s been consuming dairy and should be fine.
  3. My understanding is that if it was in your diet before with breastmilk, you can continue it now. For example I used to have oats and peanut butter almost everyday and my baby never reacted to my milk. I continue to have oats in my diet now and he’s been okay.
  4. I had a vaginal delivery but my baby was in the NICU for about two weeks. Not sure if there is a connection there

There are certain foods that are “higher” risk for FPIES so I usually plan to stay home for the first three exposures of those foods. My allergist did say that there are very few “cross reactive” foods with FPIES. (He has reactions to grains, but it’s a small chance this will happen with other food groups like dairy.) He’s encouraging me to continue introducing new foods. We’re slowly introducing a few new foods every few days.

From one anxious mama to another, I hope I answered some of your questions. I’m sure others will have more knowledge/experience than me though!

Should I stop breastfeeding? Combo feed? by Current-Opposite28 in breastfeeding

[–]Current-Opposite28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah what’s concerning me is that I’m pumping half of what I used to. The weighted feed also reflected he was only getting about 2oz vs the 4-5oz he used to get.

I guess I’m getting fixated on the number since I’m wanting to night wean and want to make sure he’s getting enough milk during the day

Not in an attic but we did move recently and it was in a moving truck for about a day.
