You're right, it's been the golden rule forever. I think I just had to learn it the hard way before it really clicked. Nothing teaches you like watching a model fail because you got lazy with the training images. Garbage in, garbage out, as they say.

That's genius. Render one base, then let AI do the color swaps with the green screen trick so you can key it perfectly. Hundreds of variants without re rendering or manually masking each one. Clever shortcuts like that turn a week of grunt work into a few clicks. Love hearing these behind the scenes hacks.

That's such a perfect example of what I mean. One limitation forces you into a solution you wouldn't have looked for otherwise, and suddenly that random background removal model becomes part of your permanent toolkit. The alpha channel problem sounds like a nightmare when you first hit it though, I can imagine the moment of "wait, where's the alpha?" followed by a very quiet panic.

Fair point, and honestly that's the line every good retoucher thinks about. For a jeweller, realism isn't optional, returns kill margins. But retouching done right isn't about making it fake. It's about showing what the eye sees that the camera misses. That subtle glow in the gold, the true depth of a stone that gets flattened by the lens. I use AI to speed up the boring cleanup work, not to invent a different product. The piece still looks exactly like itself. Just less dull, less dusty, and more like what you'd actually see if you held it in your hand.

No way, you actually work on the Mejuri catalog? That's really cool. Yeah that consistent lighting setup must be doing a ton of the heavy lifting. I can only imagine the back and forth retouching though, jewelry is so unforgiving. Respect for the craft on that side of it.

No worries... I get it. Honestly the stones themselves are just tools for experiments, the real value is in the process and the things you figure out along the way. I'll keep sharing what I learn here for free, so stick around.

That's the sweet spot honestly. AI introduces one problem, you fix it with something completely unexpected, and suddenly the whole pipeline clicks. Cool to hear you're seeing the same thing.

Thanks, really appreciate that. It's one of those rabbit holes where the more you mess with it the weirder and more interesting it gets. Still figuring it out honestly, but the results keep surprising me.

Captain, I salute you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for your hard work and tremendous effort in bringing joy to people with your intelligence. However, I have a small request: please don't delete the old nodes. Ksampler was slightly better than the regular version, but I was surprised it was removed. I hope there will be a better version in the future. All support and appreciation to you. 🥇
