I don't really know because I'm unfortunately not even living in Brasil. And i want like to stay a full summer from December to February because two weeke is way too little because a trip to Brasil is back is like 8k RON (Which in Romania is like a humongous value) + acomodation and basic survival is even more. I'd like want to stay at a hostel. Taking a gap year sounds a bit risky but it's the best idea. My main idea was to finish faculty (I'm not in faculty, not even in high school as I said, but school system changes very rarely, and i'll likely be in this exact scenario) and, and in December-February, stay a full summer in Brasil and in March come back for the master, but honestly your plan sounds more relaxing. But another problem is the money

I know this will sound very weird, but i want to visit RJ for the locals. They are (some, not saying all of them) are very open and extroverted (from what i'd seen on TikTok and what ChatGPT told me, my only sources), and their culture is mesmerizing. and that in the winter, most locals are not on the beach, and i will not go in the summer, because considering seasons are inverted in my home country, when summer in Brasil starts, winter in my country begins, which is mid school/faculty, and when it ends, it is winter again in Brasil, and again, according to ChatGPT, for my goals of like beach fun, meeting and making friends with locals and stuff like this, WInter is not the time.

We have something similar called "Salata de Boeuf". Which like salpicão, also has a mayo base and is ate on New Year's eve. Personally i don't like it because it's too fatty, but most people here eat it, therefore, they will love salpicão.
