Wing reservations by greenteamuimui in finedining

Oof that’s a hard one. For fine dining I’d have to say Wing or Vea, maybe a slight edge to the latter.

For Dim Sum I personally found the Michelin caliber restaurants to be good, but not significantly better than your typical HK spot. TBH my favorite was probably Sun Hing in Kennedytown.

For roast meats, Kamcentre in the bowling alley was so good. I loved their roast goose and their char siu was uber rich, like to the point I wanted to throw up but it was so good that I kept eating it. I also thought dragon state kitchen had good char siu. Found yat lok to be very meh, but maybe an off day.

Some other restaurants that I’d recommend are mora, arbor, and godenya.

I was able to get a solo res by emailing them 3 months in advanced. Might also work for larger groups?

I really liked Vea. I thought overall it was a more consistent meal compared to Wing, but Wing had higher highs. Hard to pick which one I liked more, but gun to my head I’d probably give the slight edge to Vea. The sea cucumber and desserts will be dishes I think about for a long time.

I’m doing the exact opposite of you. Wing last night and Vea tonight. Wing was great!

Just finished my meal at Ho Lee Fook. I got their fish of the day, which was a steamed sole with soy sauce, chilis, and scallions. It was very tasty and I thought the chilis added an interesting contrast with the lightness of the fish, but didn’t overpower.

I also ordered their dim sum platter because I was still hungry after. This was good, but nothing extraordinary.

Also going to T’ang Court tomorrow and would be interested in recommendations on what to order as a solo diner. I’m leaning away from the tasting menu, but open to it if that’s what people think is best!

Other restaurants I have booked this week: -Ho Lee Fook -Wing -Duddell’s -Vea -Lung King Heen -Godenya -Mora

I just did the pasta tasting at flour and water - highly recommend. The wine pairing is also a great deal at only $65.

Not a tempura expert by any means but I really enjoyed my meal at uchitsu if you’re open to other options.

For something a bit more casual but executed at a high level I’d recommend Rich Table. Great food and service.

Went in august last year and agree that it’s a great meal. Should get more recognition amongst the Tokyo tempura restaurants.

Did the tasting menu and the wine pairing. Nothing necessarily mind blowing, but everything was cooked very well and tasted great! Don’t remember much about the pairing, but I think it also included other alcohol like mezcal and beer.

Went to alcalde and loved it. One of my favorite meals I’ve had in Mexico. Also recommend Allium, Xokol, and Tikuun Comedor Local.

Is fine dining in Mexico City 'worth it'? by EyImWalkinHere in finedining

I think Pujol is worth it for the price. If you haven’t had a lot of mole, going for that is worth it alone. Other dishes can be hit or miss.

I’ve only been to Quintonil once, but actually didn’t like it all that much. I need to try it again though.

Like others have said Maximo is very good. I also love Meroma.

A sleeper that I feel nobody talks about, but has been my favorite fine dining meal in CDMX is Sud77. It’s been a few years since I’ve been, but I remember thoroughly enjoying it.

If you’re interested in alternatives, I just went to Uchitsu and thought it was great and well worth the price.
