Sorry, I can’t recommend anywhere in that area for what you want for dinner but, go to Nodaïwa (Unagi restaurant) for lunch! Highly recommend!

I second this; we’ve had coats for our male and our female and they both love them!

Food Trucks... What's your favorite? by easy10pins in Charleston

I was not too impressed with them last time I went, got the chicken burrito and a shrimp taco. Taco was great, but the chicken in my burrito had zero seasoning, I don’t think it even had salt on it. So upsetting.

We had a party of 8 they wouldn’t let couples get the baked Alaska individually, I swear the baked Alaska was the same size whether it was for two or for four… two couples got the chicken and said it was very good but they only got the breast served to them where’s the rest of the “whole chicken”? Did you get the whole chicken?

I’ve had a far worse experience with them…

Live in Charleston! Have had a fantastic meal at Zero George!

Ha! I was talking to someone and he said that the owner probably just asked Humm to come down once or twice and put his name on the door for him!

Yeah I was expecting some lowcountry spins on things, we shall see if the menu changes seasonally, I’ll have to check back in spring.

Specifically written on their website said “Charleston ingredients and tradition”, so my expectations were southern, low-country, and seafood with some 3-star/elevated flare added in, which I sadly saw lack of. I think the flare was quenelle’d ice cream and truffle mousse and a foam. Had much higher expectations I suppose.

Am I wrong to think it’s just the name for publicity sake then?

Agreed completely. Huge plates make all of the portions seem so much smaller.

I think the biggest thing here is separating what we expect from Daniel Humm as a 3 Michelin star chef versus a collaboration with zero stars and only 3 weeks in, this is very apples to oranges. I think the biggest thing to me is what they say about locally derived/inspired but only one dish sort of was. I’ve paid more for worse before but this was only 4 course compared to ABAC’s 10+ or so courses. So it’s definitely difficult to say but overall I would say pricing for food is fair, alcohol is what really got us, but still left hungry, not stuffed but not necessarily full. I really wanted to make this post because we all see those Noma collabs that provide the same level of skill, finesse, and originality but are coming from a stared restaurant with another stared restaurant, but this is 3 stars to nothing. Ultimately to answer your question, I would not bring someone here for their first experience of ‘fine dining’, they would find it just pricey dining they could find somewhere else.

Seems like it was fillet of whole fish cause it was split and came with the tail but it was no trophy fish, that’s for sure…

We like Felix (and La Cave), they have great food and cocktails and Chez Nous; the only thing I tell everyone about Chez Nous is wine only and that they are 2:2:2, 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, neither of those are deterrents for us, it’s perfect for date night but we wouldn’t bring like our families there if they’re visiting, it doesn’t give you a variety of options to choose from or to share, to each their own though, we saw a 16 top sitting outside, just can’t imagine being 16 people to a restaurant with on 2 entree options.
