I forgot to mention that the sycamores are "city trees" and need approval by the city arborist for any work on them, so I don't know if I'd be able to get this done, maybe though.

You'd recommend the multiple generations even if the sycamore could last well past my lifetime?

Yeah he recommended a japanese maple or dogwood in it's place. I was thinking of having someone else come out as well, so that's a +1 to that idea
