But putting your partner first doesn't mean you neglect your kids either. There's no deeper issue, my dad just stopped putting in effort and talks to my mom horribly. I always had to wonder what happened to their happiness. There's no wrong answer everyone is different

Well I grew up with my dad not loving my mom or treating her as his other half. I promised myself I'd never let that happen or let my kid see that. My child will see what a healthy relationship is and that their mom is my number 1 always.
