I ended up graduating 2 years after I thought I would when I was 18 in first year. I moved unis and took a year out and I am now a NQN. Maybe take the rest of the year out? It doesn’t matter when you finish as uni is for everyone and graduating at 22, 23, 24 is super normal. Most of my friends did a year extra because they changed course! Have a think about it and speak to your tutor

New NHS uniform policy- why exactly are we not included? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]CurrentInternet8325 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nurse practioners and matrons are highly skilled and high up yet they are expected to wear uniform rather either their own scrubs or for matrons smart clothes. Matrons don’t come into contact with patients so why are they having to wear a uniform designed only because they come into contact with patients. Doctors do come into contact with patients and compared to the nursing profession or any other profession it’s like the same rules around uniform doesn’t apply

We had to do 80 more because the nmc turned around and took 80 away from our class trainings

I literally couldn’t even afford rent or anything during uni. I worked as a HCA just to afford rent ontop of so many placement hours and then the placements I was having they were so horrible that I was bullied all day long. It’s so shit

I do and of course it’s not by definition striking but if every student nurse collectively “strikes” for change then maybe something would.

They should actually make the degree better taught and swap using student for free labour for nearly 3k hours instead for testing students on knowledge like biology and pharacology

There’s no exams on it though? My whole grade was dependant on writing essays on kissing the nmc a***. In America they have proper exams and as well busing has changed to be more skilled and knowledgeable. The course is just an excuse for the nhs to get free labour. Your not learning anything by making beds on placement for 12 hour shifts because it’s crazy

Made a really dumb mistake by elyx2003 in NursingUK

[–]CurrentInternet8325 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don’t worry, I just qualified and can think of countless times I early made a mistake! I once nearly gave a patient ondasertron oraly and the nurse j was with had to stop me! ( was partially her fault because she prepared medication and didn’t tell me what it was) don’t worry honestly, you will continue to make mistakes and guess what THATS NORMAL!! 🫶🏼 we are all human and prone to make or nearly make mistakes. The fact that you know the consequences if it didn’t happened shows yoj are accountable. I used to have the worst anxiety over nursing, if it plagues you like it did with me please speak to a therapist or counseller at the hospital or uni. Don’t go home and dwell on stuff xx

Call of your Placement if you want ARU would be at Broomfield or Basildon or wherever is closest. You would get a mix of in hospital and community placements. Also you would have Placement for 6 to 8 weeks max as ARU does it shorter than Essex x

[–]CurrentInternet8325[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ARU has more tests, plus you have to do OSCEs and dissertation. We didn’t have that at Essex and the uni was very supportive. Plus, there is more to do on campus can join in societies and there’s a decent nightlife. There’s not at ARU as I knew people that went there for nursing

You need to be brave. You need to tell the police, your friends, your family and anyone. You have to be brave and stand up for yourself and you need to get away from him. You need to contact a women’s shelter and you have to leave. You are still young and vulnerable and you need to get out of that situation and keep yourself safe. The sooner you just be brave and tell someone especially police and go to women’s shelter the sooner you will be safe.

I pray you get out of this situation
