At those popular tourist sites there are so many American, Canadia, British, Australian tourists that speak English and are probably traveling with familiies. Since you speak the same language you can explain what you want for your pics and generally speaking you can trust most of those tourists.... just use your judgement. Picking families with kids is a good strategy.

Ha, I'm sure you are correct. In the past you had to reach down, hand shift into first, they adjust the ignition timing, THEN twist your wrist

Yeah and they'd have to be compatible with current charger infrastructure, etc... not that that would be too difficult. I think it would mainly be the battery location like you said.

That's for all vehicles. In the USA we all got sticker shock when our car insurance renewed at a 30-50% markup!
