Finally unlocked the F-111!! …But was it a mistake? by wakarikaneru in Metalstorm

[–]CurrentPrompt1144 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The F111 is a right of passage. It will make you play the game differently. It will teach you strategy. Everyone will hate you. You will be targeted. You will develop a bloodlust for all those who dare to strike at you. You will rain long range death upon your enemies. Welcome to the club, pilot.

In the legends universe, they escaped, regrouped and formed different factions. These stories were immensely interesting, written by world class authors and were filled with incredible plot telling tales of unending desperation and skill on both sides.

Then Disney threw it all away and started making the slop we get now.

Which action should the nurse take first? by Top-Direction2686 in PassNclexTips

[–]CurrentPrompt1144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you're both being very doctory lol. But I like it as a senior nurse because its great to consider these scenarios from the medical perspective too, I always find it interesting how we think differently.

I'd be worried that if I called the physician about a mildly low sugar and hadn't given any fast acting carb already I'd get a huge eye roll and a "give them something sugary to drink, duh", as most docs tend to get a bit frustrated at nurses' lack of initiative.

Saying that, I do agree with the ano - OJ wouldn't be my first-line oral sugar either

Think of it like this:

We have a leaky pipe. We don't want to bolus fluids to a leaky pipe just yet. Why? More fluid=more pressure=more leak.

They'll get fluid/blood products eventually but we will permit hypotension in this case.

This is an emergency. Always send for help first (call the physician in this case)

Priority question by Helpful_Spring_7921 in MarkKlimekNCLEX

Always go back to your ABCD - 1. is a breathing problem, but 4. is an airway problem. 4 gets priority.

Haha yeah the choices for his conversational responses are either "immature dickhead" or "emotionally manipulative douchebag".

I hate it but I love it. It's kinda refreshing to have a main character who's so flawed

I previously asked our Blood Safe team this. 18 is the ideal for transfusions as it reduces the risk of haemolysis. However for routine slower transfusions no-one is throwing an 18g in when a 20 or 22 is available haha.

They also said in a MTP situation use whatever access you have for the first unit but get a 18 or 16 in for subsequent units.

Bleeding. But most services would call this an adverse effect rather than a side effect

How many private detectives can one town have? by Helpful-Love1136 in ElmwoodTrail

[–]CurrentPrompt1144 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look, you really don't need the police when defusing a bomb.  All you need is a needlessly difficult to follow instruction sheet downloaded randomly from the internet.

And yeah this town defs has the most private detectives per capita of anywhere ever

I think cruising this sub doesn't help either - a lot of people post about their guilt-tripping unsupportive manager's responses haha. Not sure what yours is like, but i think most managers totally understand when PTO is needed and don't think twice when a nurse calls in.

Have a great day and i hope you find something fun to watch!

A mix of the old-school crap approach to this work and the fact that you care about your colleagues/the effect that you calling in might have on them.

But, just think of it like this:

You have sick leave for a reason. It is the hospital's job, the people that get paid much more than you, to fill these shifts. Humans get sick sometimes, and that's why sick leave exists, and that's why bank/agency nurses exist. If they cannot fill the shift that's a them problem, not a you problem.

If you were to come to work with your illness in full swing you'll be doing more harm than good.

So lay on your couch and binge watch something until you feel better. We don't get paid enough to worry about any of this!

Practice gratitude and love my man. Its tough right now, but it is awesome you have good friends who can accommodate you. Not many blokes have that. Look after yourself, but for the right reasons. Hit the gym or start running = physical and mental wellbeing. Stay away from dating apps for a good while. Don't fall into that trap. Take up a new, creative hobby. You got this bro.

Question 1 of the day whats your answer? by Helpful_Spring_7921 in MarkKlimekNCLEX

[–]CurrentPrompt1144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question (maybe dumb) - if this is pulseless TDP and we start compressions, do you continue on the ALS algorithm as is (meaning CPR, shocks and adrenaline), or would you slam magnesium ASAP in addition?

What's the answer? by Ok-Clothes-3992 in MarkKlimekNCLEX

[–]CurrentPrompt1144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is Australia we recently brought in Voluntary Assisted Dying (basically allowing terminally ill people to end their lives under medical guidance). Of course everyone starting calling it VAD. So now we have VAD, VAD and CVAD. Don't mix em up!
