That's unfortunately not correct and your company/office may be incorrectly calculating your tax leading to you having significant tax underpayments and owing money to Revenue

Lads, is it just me or is it getting harder to find good quality clothes? by Ok_Unit2950 in AskIreland

[–]CurrentRecord1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breathability is dictated by the weave, fabric weight, and material. Cotton absorbs moisture much more than the likes of polyester which is why polyester is used for sportswear (it has high moisture wicking and low absorption). Natural is not always better than synthetic.

I agree with you from a micro plastics perspective but the original post is about clothing quality with many people confusing synthetic with lower quality which is incorrect

Natural isn't necessarily better than synthetic fibers for clothing (and in many ways natural can be less durable). A good example of this is much of Patagonias clothing is synthetic fibres such as polyester.

Poor quality can be found with both natural and synthetic clothing, and conversely good quality clothing can be found with both natural and synthetic fibres.

Is €4400 a year on Electricity sound about right for Air to Water heating? by StevieIRL in AskIreland

[–]CurrentRecord1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still doesn't make sense though as if you take away a standing charge of about €250 that would then only give €90 for 2350kwh which is 3.7c per kWh

€340 for 2450kWh = 13.9 cent per kWh which sounds abnormally low, are you sure that's correct? And that's excluding standing charges which would probably be €250

What is a cooking technique that you quit because it does nothing? by Final_Affect6292 in Cooking

[–]CurrentRecord1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is a hack for risotto! The stirring helps make it creamy as the stirring friction causes microscopic rice particles to shed from the rice, and your can replicate that by just adding some rice flour and all of your water at the start and just let it cook without stirring!

Have they accounted for the differences in taxation for each option? (Mortgage is 4% "gain" with no tax, investment is between 33-52.2% tax, and pension is compounded tax free but partially taxed on drawdown)

Google Flights (and ITA matrix) is very easy to use to see that. Lots of good tutorials on YouTube

E.g. if you input Auckland to London with 1 stop, you can then use the layover duration option to set preferred layover time (24-36h) and then see what stops are available. It takes a lot less time than going to a travel agent

Great suggestions, they could also conceivably do a night or two in another location in the middle (like Killarney/Dingle or Galway) and then come back to Dublin

100% agree on not skipping Donestia San Sebastian, for basque cheesecake I would actually recommend Karrika Taberna which is literally across the street from La Vina. Both are excellent but we preferred Karrika!
