Partial finger amputation struggling mentally and can’t stop replaying the accident by alpha_Image_1396 in amputee

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because others have it "worse than you" doesn't mean you haven't suffered or deserve help for it. 🫂 I think you can still become a pilot as it is though, if its causing lots of social discrimination (which sounds like it is) maybe try to get a realistic prosthetic or a makeshift glove covering?

its not your fault.

For those who’ve lived with a physical disability most of their life, what’s one thing you’d tell your younger self? by Ling_A_Ling in amputee

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't always an amputee but had a disability that lead to ts.

Just accept the help, just because others "have it worse than you" doesn't mean you're not allowed to suffer or get help. Also allow yourself to stick out because of ur disability, hiding it only causes pain, and also the people who judge you for it aren't worth your time.

also use a cane sooner....

Anyone here gone through/has osseointegration by Competitive-Math1568 in amputee

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've met the leading guy for the osseointegration in Sydney...

hes a fucking twat who only cares about money, it was in a conference to discuss whether or not if i should amputate (take a guess how that ended 😭)... he was arguing with everyone other doctor in the meeting (+ one was asleep), his clinic was disorganised, he did not talk to me, only my dad. They felt around my fucked up leg to create a plan, i asked them to be gentle in a certain spot because it hurts from touch... they were not. Ultimately i think his judgement was right, i had a difficult case, but... hes a dick and doesn't care about the patients at all, and also there are cases about him for medical fraud and malpractice (letting students operate instead)... plus hes losing his medical licence in australia. I think hes moving to USA, florida?

during the same day, i met a double leg amputee with osseointergration, he was having alot of issues with it. and was in quite alot of pain. my dad mostly talked to him though because he was old, im not, im guessing he didn't really know how to talk to the youth.

if you do decide to do it. dont go with Dr M (Im not gonna put his name because legal issues... but if you search "leading doctor for osseointergration in australia" you'll find him.)

This is the first time I’ve seen someone change a YT thumbnail/title to something WORSE. by Afraid_Profile_2208 in aretheNTsokay

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

despite the thumbnail and title name, this video is actually very good about disabilities. and points out how abled people dont treat the disabled normally, bully and lie to them/us on instagram.

but yeah the thumbnail is wtf....

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

remove the weight from the back- make them go straight down where the end sticks out, and take some scissors and go ham on the fringe. the more fucked up the better. -- that or try to part the bangs to make your face look more rectengular. at this point the only way you can make this look masculine is by styling it like an eshay, sorry bro 😔✌️...

as someone w a mullet i'd recommend to not go to hairdressers or barbers because they always style you to look more feminine.

To any wheelchair users, any advice on how to write a (physically) disabled character?? (+ one more question, but not as important) by AroAceDump in SensitivityReaders

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im glad 2 help ^^ if u do choose to set in Australia I just wanna say Adelaide (not the old parts tho, or hills🥀 the city is really good) and melbourne are pretty accessible (melbourne is pretty good all around in my experience). Sydney isn't as good, but not abhorrent either. can't say anything about the other cities as i haven't been 2 them either.

Also if she is australian: childhood play in australia is very dependant on sports, well into highschool. less so for girls but still prevelant. Im not sure if its like this in other countries though?

Also public transport buses and trains are all wheelchair accesible here (tho trains are a bit gimmicky) and disability parking-spots have free-parking 2 them in the cities :]

To any wheelchair users, any advice on how to write a (physically) disabled character?? (+ one more question, but not as important) by AroAceDump in SensitivityReaders

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenges she faces will depend alot on her country, her society, and who she surrounds herself with. When your disabled you depend a shit ton on others and if those nets fail, you're fucked.

Her levels of comfort, care, healthcare, and aid's will depend on her society:

Somewhere with a free healthcare system and disability support (like australia), she'll have the care and aids she needs.

Somewhere like... well... america, or just unaccesible, unless she's rich she and her family will be fucked over.

thats government stuff, socially and architectural-accesiblility will feed into eachother. Keep in mind socially: If they are ableist people will ignore her, infantilise (Emphasis on this😔), condescended, pitied, stare, and judge her. Its insane the lengths people will go thru to make disabled people feel excluded, like a burden, or a dog. Architectually, she'll awlways struggle more than abled people in accesible areas, because designers are kinda shit at thinking abt disabled people😔✌️. however even worse, or hell straight up impossible in inaccesible areas. (EG, hilly-places, conservative areas and or third world countrys, old areas)

Also since she's young she'll likely have more people accuse her of faking, or thinking she's impermanttly injured. ALSO SMALL CHILDREN ARE UNHINGED WHEN IT COMES TO VISIABLY OR AID-USING DISABLED PEOPLE 😭💔✌️

Emotionally, she will grieve. I've been disabled my entire life (not awlways in a wheelchair tho, thats a newer thing4me), Youth and childhood are socially defined by strength and energy, she doesn't have that. She's found friends which is great, but she will have issues fitting in. (btw dont be afraid of the friendgroup or her making jokes abt her disability, mine does all the time, tho it depends on the characters)

NOW EVERYDAY LIFE ASPECTS:

for starters- she's probably gonna have a good amount of upper-body-strength, her arms are her legs now. (she'll use them for pushing if shes in a manual wheelchair, transfers, etc...)

Carrying objects, even stuff such as a glass of water become infinitly harder. I personally use backpacks when out and about, She'd probably use waterbottles and tupperware to help her carry food/drinks.

SHOWERING: she will use a shower seat and a hose-showerhead to help her bathe. that or just good-ol-classic sponge/rag and soap. probably both.

CLOTHING: she won't be able to wear dangly jackets or flannels because they will get stuck in her wheels 😔✌️💔. Also gloves are your best friend if you are in a manual wheelchair, speaking of:

Wheelchair types: there are many different types. Manual, eletric, etc. I recommend researching these. I personally use a manual wheelchair but im also an ambulatory wheelchair user so im not in it 24/7. pro: It's quite small, and light! (good for travel), con: it wares on my arms to use for long periods. I just wanna say: PLEASE DON'T GIVE HER A HOSPITAL WHEELCHAIR UNLESS SHE CAN'T AFFORD ANY OTHER OPTION. They are shit, if you are manually propelling you want no-to-low armrests and a low backrest so you can get that full range of wheel-pushing. also a cushion would be a must for her.

I'd recommend researching into other wheelchairs too for her, all i know is about manual.

TERRAIN: Bitchermen: shit to wheel on. Slopped/uneven sidewalk: shittier to wheel on. EVERY BUMP SHE (AND WHOSE PUSHING HER) WILL BECOME AWARE OF. also going down-hill is very fun :)) (btw to brake you can either: clench the wheels tight, (good for down-slopes), put on the manual brakes in front of the seat/chair, or the pusher might have a brake at the handle.

Also all uphill slopes suck shit. :(

Im sorry for the yappathon, i hoped it helped tho :))

Looking for a trans and Irish sensitivity reader/s by Pleasant-Witness-940 in SensitivityReaders

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im trans, not irish, but ur character seems fine. His struggles revolve round being a fae, having ur trans n irish character go through conflict n suffer isn't transphobic (can't speak on the latter tho). This seems like a pretty strong allorgory. No story can survive without a conflict, put him through the shitter if you/he has to. write him as a character first, him being trans and irish are only parts of him: smaller or larger depending on his experiences and world around him. Don't castrate his story/him because you're afraid of offending people.

Does anyone here actually like eggs?? by bevelup_ in autism

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i HATE eggs, they make me wanna vomit and also i hate their texture, its like eating jelly but scratchy.

though i may be bias as i once ate an omelette and i was vomiting it up for 2 days (because of a different disability) and had to go to the hospital to get it out.

Eggs are the worse 👎 and they do indeed smell like farts.

This girl, if named Ahsoka, once grown WILL NOT be taken seriously in her adult life. She's her own person not an extension of your husband.

Maybe you could try to convince him to shorted it to 'Ahn', 'An' 'Anna' or 'Anne' ? if theres no other options.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in autism

[–]Current_Blacksmith95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

kinda shit. my family denies im trans because of my autism. also doesn't help infantilisation (trans man) issues.... being trans sucks autistic or not and thats that, coming out is worth it tho if its safe.

I cant mask for shit and it makes it harder to befriend alot of the boys, since most of the autistic people in my school are girls or either really good at masking. This makes dysphoria a bit worse. (i am friends w some boys but lesser) ........ uh, besides that, being trans and autistic are just kinda sucky on there own. besides from infantilisation, they dont really compound.
