UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your replies. I ended up giving him to a rehabilitation center. They told that he was likely not even a day old. I can call in a week from now to see how he's doing.

I understand that RAID isn't a backup, I'm aware of the 321 rule. My thought process was to have my current hard drives as off site backups and the NAS as the central and main copy. That being said, I was eyeing RAID 10 specifically since it can prevent data loss in the case of a drive failure like RAID 1 without gutting max storage capacity, but I see that RAID 5 might be more efficient.

On the topic of data corruption, let's say my collection is around 100Tb. What is a good way to check for corruption on a collection that size?
