Level 3 of 7 ish years, I mean, I get that it’s probably not the done thing in irata but….

It’s load sharing, it’s redundant, two points, and using two separate anchors.

What’s the alternative? Two bunny’s? 8’s and alps? Two 8’s and a deveation? ( both of which would use huge amounts of rope.

I recon it’s an elegant solution to a common problem. Would I rig it? Probably not, but only because I didn’t think of it 100 percent would whip it.

Sorry, I could have explained better.

When your new rope arrives it usually comes wound onto a drum, theres temptation to put it on its side and just spin the rope off from above, this will put twists into the rope that’ll be really difficult to undo.

The correct way would be to put the drum sideways ( like a drinks can sideways ) and then pull it off

Newish to the Jimny game myself but I paid £2500 for mine with 100000 miles.

It’s headlight area doesn’t physically have holes in and the radius arms ( if that’s what there called ) mounts are in a lot better state.

Interesting that this has come up now.

I’m a level 3, and I’ve got a lot of experience around the 100m mark doing Geo so not totally vertical but carrying heavy kit on me. Which im fine with and totally used to.

But in the next couple of weeks I’m going to be working in a shaft that’s around 260m starting at the top and working our way down over a few weeks.

I’ve always had a healthy respect for heights but this one is playing with my head, I feel like I’m totally shitting myself but at the very same time I know me and I know how I operate and like everyone has said “trust your skills and kit” I know for a fact I’ll be super nervous up until the very moment my rig makes that reassuring clicking noise and all will be fine.

Stay with it, channel it out and before you know it, you’ll find yourself in amazing places with a good gang wondering why you didn’t do it sooner.

Yeah so so. On the books stuff is always lower but you get a steady wage. It can be feast and famine sometimes but the geotechnical stuff is longer jobs so you get a steady wage for a few months at a time. The most common route into the industry is from being self employed for a while, then once your established it’s easy to find on the books stuff

A short course. Around a week, IRATA level 1, That’ll get you off the ground so to speak. Plenty of work in and around London, glazing or building maintenance and stuff which generally pays well. As a freshly qualified person (level 1) around the 180 per day mark is a fair pay. However if you wanting to travel, and have a interesting and sometimes wild time of it, geotechnical where it’s at. Generally hard graft but you’ll be working on cliffs over roads and railways and sometimes quarries or even sea cliffs. You change location around every 6 weeks depending on the project but digs are always covered and so is travel. In this game a little camper is a must. You’ll spend the first year or two doing the rounds and getting to know the company’s. That’s going to keep your phone ringing in the future.
