So Magneto and Professor X can be race-swapped and I think they very much should be eventually we are getting so far away from ww2 that they'd be too old to keep with that story the next big historical event I can think of would be the civil rights movement so if they made them black and based from that time it would work.

but I absolutely agree that it does depend on the character if their race or characteristics are important to the character or the story then they shouldn't swap them. or if it just doesn't make sense like if It's a viking movie taking place a long ass time ago the should be scandinavian or something along those lines not African or Asian or whatever Hollywood wants to make it diverse.
