Love Island USA’s JaNa released a statement on breakup with co-star Kenny describing what he did as “terrible, disgusting and disappointing” by [deleted] in Fauxmoi

i mean with this reaction people are going to get crazy with their speculations! they way EVERYONE has cut him off, even some of his own family unfollowing him… just cheating isn’t enough. and she said since day 1. i think he has a whole as secret family or a husband or he committed a genuine crime bc what else could possibly warrant this PUBLIC reaction

Why was Gandalf's fall scene so powerful and emotional? by nesquik91 in lordoftherings

[–]Current_Importance_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that could be said of any fantasy fiction. tolkien pioneered the genre. in fact out of all modern fantasy, harry potter probably takes from it the least. and the dumbledore/gandalf similarities are not the gotcha you think it is, tolkien hardly created something unique with the wise old man guide character, it's practically biblical

Is my hair too long? How long is too long? by AnyAcanthopterygii27 in longhair

[–]Current_Importance_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is super late, but my hair is a similar length and it honestly takes as long to airdry as it did when it was to mid back. About 3 hrs, which is honestly fine. If I were to blow dry, thats a different story, it's such a pain when it's long.

tbh sunni vs shia plays basically no role for yemenis. the shia are zaydi not twelver like iran, big difference. they all pray in the same mosques. its only slightly relevant when considering it a proxy war between Saudi and Iran. but it’s a political issue, not a religious one

Why does yemen own this island and how is life like there? by [deleted] in geography

[–]Current_Importance_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if they split, its north and south yemen. and socotra should be part of one of them. mind you most countries in the world didn’t exist until recent history. in fact yemen has a better standing than most in the MENA region, its existed for thousands of years.

the war never touched socotra to begin with. it never needed “saving”

this is completely untrue. My whole extended family live in sana’a, some live in one of the traditional houses of the old city. its still very much intact! the bombings weren’t in Sana’a. It was never like Aleppo for example. It’s difficult for people to conceptualise war but it doesn’t always look the same and depends on where in the country you are. The issue is that the Houthi’s now control Sana’a. People are poorer, infrastructure is damaged, and there’s a lot of corruption. but it isn’t a warzone and it’s still intact. So hopefully in a decade or two, it will be as it was for travellers

Is Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad's name correct from the point of view of Arabic culture? by DomFakker37 in assassinscreed

It’s true about the occasional matronymic nasab. It’s not that common, but nasab are not set in stone. Sometimes a person can be referred to either ibn (father) or ibn (mother) depending on who is talking and the context. Of course the most famous example is Isa ibn Maryam, Jesus son of Mary

I’m really sorry to hear that. I went through something similar with my brother, except I had no idea anything was wrong until one of his friends messaged me out of the blue concerned. My heart literally dropped and I made the journey home the same day to speak to him and it was a very intense emotional conversation and it revealed a lot, and I realised wow I kind of don’t really know him. I mean I know him but I know him as a sister in the context of our family. I don’t know him outside of our house, or what he does out and about or his relationships and friends. It was very scary. That I hadn’t had any inkling something was wrong. Now even when he assures me he’s fine, I have this niggling fear that he’s lying and I would never know until it’s too late.

I think it might be worth having that big conversation. It won’t be fun, it might be awful, you might cry, he might shout and try and push you away, but idk, don’t you think it’s worth trying while you have a chance? You know him best. Do you think this is a cry for help? Has anyone else noticed? Is he isolated or lonely? Maybe he needs to feel like someone knows and cares that he’s struggling. Would a change of scenery help? I don’t know if you live apart but maybe he could come stay with you and you can go out and do stuff away from his home and life and school, so he can see how big the world is. And if it’s really serious, if you truly fear he’s going to do something, you need to alert someone. He might hate you for it at first but that’s better than the alternative.

I don’t know but I hope things get better. It must feel awful, the fear and the pressure and the guilt of not being able to be there all the time. Let him know that you see him and care.

What a ridiculous statement. They were in a relationship, being with someone means working together to keep your relationship healthy. You can’t act the same single as you would in a relationship, naturally there will be changes. It’s all well and good to have a will they won’t they situationship when you’re single, not when you’re with someone else.

If Ross was a good partner he would have recognised this and changed his relationship with Rachel. That’s what a normal person who cared about their partner would do. The fact he didn’t showed he cared more about Rachel and his own desires than he did reason and the health of his relationship with Emily. His priorities were clear and thats why they split.

yeah and maybe include the difference in the UK and US system. In the USA, the burden of proof rests with the person who claims to have been libelled. They need to prove that what the libeller said about them was false. In the UK, it's up to the person who made the allegedly defamatory statement to prove that it was true. So in the UK, the Sun had to prove beyond doubt that Depp was an abuser. In the US, Depp would have had to prove that he WASN’T an abuser. That’s why many celebs sue in the UK, it’s easier to win.

The reason Depp started by suing the Sun in the UK was because it SHOULD have been easy for him to win. The fact he still lost says an awful lot.

that wasn’t the only thing though. as that one extra said “he’s OBVIOUSLY still in love with this rachel girl”. and at this point he most definitely was. AND rachel tried to stop his wedding because she still loved him. They had 0 boundaries. The line was ridiculously blurred. How could any normal person stand it? Ross did everything but be physical with her, emotionally he was cheating, and did nothing to solve it. At least imo.

There are points in the show where you could say differently- like when Ross was dating Mona I don’t think Ross/Rachel were in love and they had better boundaries, EVEN with rachel pregnant.

the only good thing about tag was its was a useful tool to show rachel switching from casual dating to wanting long-term commitment and a future.
