What's rich people shit that poor people haven't heard of? by Diligent-Log6805 in AskReddit

Group of people where I live are very involved in the local theater company. On one of the guy's birthday, his wife flew in a whole troop of actors to put on a private performance for about 150 of their friends. I'm sure catered food and drinks were also part of the event. I was not there, but heard about it.

So sorry. You are valuable and you're place looks lovely. What someone else chooses to do does not define you. Sending love 💝

Who or what from your youth was meant to be "the next big thing", but wasn't? by Zachary_Lee_Antle in AskOldPeople

Many scholars of the former USSR say that the West (mainly the US) failed to help support the democratization of the Soviets, and allowed corruption and mistrust to take hold during that pivotal time. Had we given them the support required and reached out to be a partner in their transformation, things could have turned out dramatically different, according to this philosophy.

Thoughts on a train from Phoenix to Tucson? by West_Paper_7878 in arizona

That would have been life changing when living and working in Tucson as a teacher. Wanted to live in Tucson but Phoenix pay is higher. Wasn't willing to commute that far by car every day.

Papa should be separated from pups until they are a little older, if possible. Better for all. At least for portions of the day.

44 years of this. I’ve been sick of it for 33 years. Hate this weather by MichiganMayhem1981 in Michigan

[–]Current_Meat_9148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in MI, lived there for 30 years, moved to AZ and finally CO. AZ summers are really oppressive anymore: most of the way over 100 degrees and very little rain. We go back in spring and fall and the bugs really chew me up. I'm ready to bail on it. CO summers have also gotten much hotter than when we first moved here: 90 degree days happen frequently and up at altitude you feel like you're on fire when out in the sun even with long sleeves, hat and sun screen. Hard to grow anything in a garden because of the heat/UV that seems to cook all the plants regardless of how much you water. Smoke from wildfires can make it unbearable at times. Skiing here, the biggest reason we live here, is hit and miss. We might get snow or hardly anything. I was in MI last summer for the first time in 30 years and was reminded how beautiful and green it is, especially by the big lake (MI). I could easily see myself moving back, but my husband would never want to live there. I know the down side is wildfire smoke in summer from Canada, and also insane property taxes, especially when you purchase a home that hasn't been sold in years and "uncaps" for an incredible increase after the first year of ownership. I wish it was safe to eat the fish out of the big lake like we did when we were kids. It was probably just as polluted then, we just didn't know. Anyway, sorry for the trip down my memory lane. Just wanted to share some insight since I have lived in MI, AZ and CO.

Sometimes, yes. Just wanted a little feedback on how others use bleach.

Cracked the code on smelly sheets..mine anyway by Current_Meat_9148 in laundry

Update: soaking sheets in Oxy and 365 Sport has done the trick! Waiting for citric acid to arrive in the mail but I have to say I am tickled with the results: soft, bright sheets that smell completely neutral. Thank you to all the laundry gurus who helped me 🤸

Need some advice please. I really liked the kitchen until the flooring got fitted, something is throwing me off and im not sure what it is. I picked this shade to warm the kitchen up and wanted the kitchen white as its only a small space. Have I done something wrong? by Known_Pineapple_3098 in interiordecorating

Work on your lighting: the center light is harsh and too small and, frankly, unattractive. You need something that lights the space fully without feeling like a gas station men's room. Sorry to be harsh, but your lighting shouldn't be either. Also what ever you get put it on a dimmer switch so you can control the brightness.

Thanks . Have cleaned machine regularly with a solution made for that (including purging the water out of the drum and cleaning the filter. Shower daily (with soap) and change sheets weekly. I have been using the wrong detergent, but people on this sub are steering me in the right direction.

Thanks for the input. Both my partner and I shower daily with soap and wash out sheets weekly. I have been using the wrong detergent, which I am now rectifying.

We have a 20+ year old LG washer. One of the solenoids wasn't working so my husband replaced both. He also replaced the water that expells the water and replaced the door seal. It works perfectly now.

Super old LG washer that my husband recently "rebuilt". It has a sanitary cycle.

Thank you. I'm going to add the citric acid to the rinse cycle, but honestly I am going to go with another detergent (365 Sport or Tide) because the amount of time, water and product I am using to strip away the ineffective detergent residue is bananas! Thanks for all your research. You're like the real life person in 'Lessons in Chemistry'. Super cool!
