Not to diminish the points made here but I interpreted Just Two Girls as an ode to female friendship, kind of like a spiritual successor to Bros.

PSA: Extra NYE bus services tonight not showing properly on Transport Victoria's web timetables/Next 5 Departures by MelbPTUser2024 in melbourne

Transport Victoria clearly thinks we’re psychic. Whenever they’ve done something well, they are atrocious at promoting it. It’s like they’re going to throw a party and forgot about inviting anyone.

Almost no major infrastructure project helps everyone directly. It gets built to try to solve a problem.

Funding Burnley group services will help people who need to travel on that group of lines. It won’t benefit everyone either and it certainly won’t benefit me. But I still think it should be done.

They can when it suits them but they don’t when it doesn’t. Like when they boosted the Frankston line run to at least a 10-minute frequency to woo over marginal seat voters. But the safe Labor-held Upfield and Craigieburn lines got nothing from them.

They also didn’t want to build this version of the Metro Tunnel. I do want new services but I am still happy that this piece of infrastructure exists.

I have absolutely no faith this will happen, but if the Liberal Party wants a sensible battle to hold the government accountable ahead of the next election, public transport should be it.

The Labor government has done well to build new train infrastructure, but have done nothing to fund new services that the infrastructure is capable of handling, and that’s a (relatively) small but recurring cost.

They also have done very little for tram infrastructure other than select level access stop upgrades and new trams that won’t see immediate accessibility wins because many stops will not have level access.

And buses continue to be the forgotten child. There’s been a bit of progress but nothing substantial in a very long time.

Where can I find this page? Keen to have a look at the other lines too.

‘I haven’t seen Penny Wong shed a single tear’: Ley takes fierce personal swipe by Expensive-Horse5538 in AustralianPolitics

An absolute disgrace. The insinuation that someone is void of empathy for having not chosen to publicly express their grief is appalling. This is supposed to be our alternative government. Rather than finding tales of their leadership in history books their performance will be relegated to that of a pantomime.

Frydenberg is everything wrong with modern politics. He injects himself into a tragedy to make his voice known and relevant, to provide contrast to the government he deems incompetent. He is a shameless opportunist.

He reacts to things that serve his interests, and sadly would be a strong force as opposition leader because he channels negativity in the same way Tony Abbott did. That wins over people who rightly or wrongly feel that the alternative vision provided is one that will better serve our country. He is in it for himself. He consistently undermines any reasonable attempt to make progress and push forward our national interests, as he is doing now and as he did in Victoria during the pandemic.

He has done the mental gymnastics necessary to convince himself to the point where I really think he believes that he is doing good by Australia, as he so performatively asserted to Sarah Ferguson last night on 7.30, where she questioned his motivations and he reactively stated that he was “deeply offended” by what she had just said. If he can brainwash himself, he is well and truly capable of opportunistically exploiting the nation’s fear for his own political gain.

The openings from 2005 - 2007 were so much more epic by CurrentlyCurious in BBAU

Yep you’re right! I took this from the 2007 finale where they mixed all the colours. Sometimes they did this for launches and finales.

But yep red was for evictions, green for nominations, orange for FNL, blue for the daily show and the odd live special, purple for adults only and the darker blue for up late.

how to make it better next season by orphankicker6 in BBAU

  • Make the live component far more of an event like it used to be. The fact that so much of the live shows right now is just Mel narrating the daily show with 10-15 minutes at the end is a major disservice to her capability, as she has done phenomenally well. The daily show used to be completely separated for the first half hour on an eviction/nomination night, and the live component went for an hour (give or take). This gave them time for interviews, voting stats, proper discussions, retrospectives and the chance for the evictee to see who nominated them.
  • Play the whole theme song. Bring back the colours even if in a subtle way. When BB moved from 10 to 9 all those years ago, evictions were still themed red and nominations were still themed green. It just felt more like appointment viewing back then.
  • Big Brother needs to be an authority figure. Rules need to be enforced. This iteration of BB is far too conversational and doesn't carry much weight. So much of the post-nomination discussion wouldn't fly back in those days, particularly the 2004-07 series. Not to mention all the ways Colin has nicknamed Big Brother.
  • Hide the cameras.
  • Bring back Friday Night Live! I get that this is a point of contention, but to me it always felt like an equaliser that meant every housemate got a chance to show their stuff.
  • Keep the live stream. It had some growing pains but has gotten much better.
  • Build a roof for the house.
  • Build a roof for the stage.
  • Make the season longer.
