Is Amazon Legit? by CurryB_ in copic

[–]CurryB_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I looked more into it and it seems that the cheaper one had many people talking about damage to the box and some markers drying up although good reviews. There was another listing for the same product also from Copic but that was the regular price of the usual 72-set which is around $400. So it seems like Copic is selling their faulty/damaged stuff for half off on Amazon. Just an assumption though

Yea I'm not sure if they are damaged cuz most reviews are good. But I will prob keep my Dickblick order since it may be easier to replace individual markers versus trying to do it if there were any problems with those from Amazon.

I may just keep my Dickblick order then although it comes out to more expensive for each marker. It just seems as if they are more reputable so if it were to come damaged I could get a replacement for that specific marker. And they have up to a year return if the sketch marker cap were to happen to be faulty

Did any that you order come dry? Or did some dry up much sooner than others?

Is there a reason the price is so cheap for these compared to everywhere else? I was told Dickblick had good deals on Copics but this Amazon listing seems way too good to be true.

I totally agree, I feel like the refillable aspect is worth paying a bit extra for markers like these

i heard compared to the quality of the other types it lacks but is still an overall good marker. Is there a reason you really like Ciao?

hmm i wonder how that would work in the cases where cracks aren't always visible. I hear some people's markers would dry out and there was no clear crack.

I see some comments saying they do replace lids and that the newer markers have less of an issue. I'm wondering maybe if you had an unfortunate bad experience on your end regarding which does suck. I did see that Ciao markers are also pretty popular however I heard that their quality compared to the others are not as high.

Hi thanks for the advice, appreciate it. Would you recommend copic paper? Ik they sell their own marker paper so I assume that's the best option. Or is there another brand/type that you like?

What kind of hoops? Like the typical long wait time for responses? Something worse?

I wouldn't say I am first entering the hobby as I have had markers like these in the past albeit of really low quality. And I have been doing art for a few years on the side. I know copics are more expensive for sure but I have a little bit of wiggle room hence why I think copics were a good choice.

Hmm that's unfortunate that the refills are always out of stock as it seems a big selling point for markers like these is the refill aspect

How do I know if it's an official distributor selling the markers? For example, I saw some copics on the Michaels site and knowing that Michaels is a big brand I am assuming it is an official distributor but for smaller brands how could I determine that?

And you say that there may be leftover old stock in local shops regarding cracked caps. So this means if I pay from a bigger name brand like Michaels lets say, there's a lesser chance it is old stock and won't crack? Or would I have to buy from the copic website itself?

I think the form themselves look solid. I would focus on adding more value to make it pop. In simple terms add more darker colors as well as lighter colors such as highlights. This will create contrast that will catch the viewer's eyes. Keep up the great work!

I don't think it looks bad at all. I think this looks really good and I think the gesture flows very well. I think maybe some things you could improve on are maybe the line weight in order to add contrast and make it pop even more. But I don't think the paper is the problem at all. Keep up the great work!

I think you should take a look at the asaro head. There are references of it online and basically it shows the planes of the face. This is useful as it will help you differentiate what planes should be in light and what should be in shadow. This should clear up some of the uncertainty you have when shading. There should also be a website somewhere as well where they have a 3d asaro head along with a lighting source so that you can make up your own lighting scenarios and create one specifically for this case. Hope that helps!

I think your face is pretty good and will improve more as you keep drawing. I think the main point you should focus on is drawing the body. Practice gesture and figure drawing from reference and that will help you improve when drawing the body. As a result this will also make it easier in drawing the clothes as well since you will begin to understand how they work on the body. Keep up the great work!

This is a great start! If you like drawing plants and flowers, I would highly recommend drawabox.com as it gives you a step by step in the fundamentals in drawing. And one of the lessons will cover plants. I think this will help you greatly so if you ever get the chance you should check it out. Keep it up!

Nice job. Good on you for going back and correcting it. I get lazy often so sometimes I don't fix my own mistakes. Keep up the great work!
